🎶 A Legacy of Music, Generosity & Caring for Others

Like so many around the world, we were saddened to learn of the passing of country music legend Dolly Parton at the age of 80.

Most of us know Dolly for the music, movies, personality and unmistakable style that made her an American icon. But behind the rhinestones was also an extraordinary commitment to giving back — including a remarkable legacy of supporting healthcare, medical research and access to care.

Throughout her life, Dolly used her success to make a difference in the health of others. Among her many contributions:

❤️ She donated $1 million to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to support COVID-19 research.
❤️ She later gave another $1 million to support pediatric infectious disease research, including antibiotic resistance and infections affecting children undergoing cancer treatment.
❤️ After her niece was successfully treated for leukemia as a child, Dolly donated $1 million to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
❤️ She helped raise $1 million toward a new hospital in her hometown of Sevierville, Tennessee, which today includes the Dolly Parton Center for Women's Services.
❤️ And earlier this year, in celebration of her 80th birthday, she released a new rendition of Light of a Clear Blue Morning, with proceeds benefiting pediatric cancer research.

Her generosity is a beautiful reminder that caring for our neighbors can take many forms — and that when we use what we've been given in service to others, the impact can reach far beyond our own lifetime.

At the PMCM, we're especially grateful for those who recognize the importance of making quality healthcare available to people in need. Dolly Parton certainly leaves behind an incredible musical legacy, but we're also thankful for a lesser-known part of her story: her commitment to helping others live healthier lives.

May we all find ways, big or small, to use what we've been given to care for one another.

Rest in peace, Dolly. ❤️

Supporting Those Who Served!

Last week, PMCM was grateful to participate in GRIT's Veteran & Senior Resource Fair, a free community event focused on connecting our nation's veterans with the local resources available to support them.

From great speakers and community resources to free haircuts and more, it was wonderful to see so many organizations come together to serve those who have served us. ❤️🤍💙

A big thank you to GRITs Veteran & Senior Resources for hosting such a great event and for inviting PMCM to be part of it. We're grateful for the opportunity to share our services and connect with veterans in our community!

💙 Working together to improve access to care.

Today, PMCM had the opportunity to join Hendrick Health's Case Management Team and other community organizations for a collaborative discussion focused on the programs, services, and resources available to better serve patients throughout our community.

During the meeting, we shared updates on PMCM's rollout of our new online intake process, designed to provide prospective patients with a more convenient, streamlined way to connect with our team and the care they need. By simplifying the referral and application process, we're working to reduce barriers and improve access to healthcare for uninsured adults across the Big Country.

We're grateful to Hendrick Health for bringing organizations together to strengthen communication, coordinate services, and improve access to care for our neighbors.

Before wrapping up the meeting, we couldn't resist gathering for a quick photo in front of the Tour de Gap banner! 🚴

A special thank you to Hendrick Health, this year's Tour Sponsor, for your continued support of Tour de Gap, the PMCM and for your ongoing collaboration in serving uninsured adults throughout our community.

❤️ Ride to Bridge Gaps in Healthcare. We'll see everyone this Saturday!

💙 A heartfelt thank you to First Central Presbyterian Church!

On behalf of the PMCM, thank you for your continued prayers and faithful support of our mission: to provide, in a Christian setting, quality healthcare to the people of the Abilene area.

It is truly our honor, privilege, and pleasure to serve as an extension of First Central Presbyterian Church and its incredibly generous congregation.

More than 40 years ago, members of this congregation recognized a need in our community and acted. What began with volunteers providing medical care out of the trunks of their cars has grown into a critical healthcare resource for uninsured adults across the Big Country.

Because of that vision, and because of the continued generosity and support of First Central Presbyterian Church, the PMCM has had the privilege of serving more than 50,000 individuals, providing compassionate primary care and life-changing prescription assistance to neighbors in need.

We are deeply honored to have been selected as one of this year's recipients through the Bequests and Planned Giving Committee. Thank you for continuing to invest in the health, hope, and well-being of our community.

Congratulations to all of this year's outstanding grant recipients. Together, we are making a lasting difference. 💙
