Help Prevent the Spread of Measles

Measles is a highly contagious virus that spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The virus can remain in the air for up to 2 hours, making vaccination one of the best ways to protect yourself, your family, and our community.

Protect our community by making sure you and your family are up to date on recommended MMR vaccinations.

Haak’u Health Center is partnering with CNM’s Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program to provide an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in becoming a Medical Assistant.

Through this partnership, participants can complete their clinical/on-the-job training locally at Haak’u Health Center while completing their coursework through CNM.

Program Highlights:
• No cost to the student, classes are paid for by the program
• Clinical/on-the-job training at Haak’u Health Center
• Paid, hands-on learning
• Evening classes through CNM
• Mentorship from experienced healthcare professionals
• Approximately a one-year commitment
• Preparation for the Registered Medical Assistant (AMT) Certification
• Potential hybrid/virtual class options, depending on course requirements

Applicants must be 18 or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional eligibility requirements apply.

Beginning September 1, Haak’u Health Center patients will have access to nurse triage services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Have a health concern and need nursing guidance? Call HHC and follow the telephone prompts to connect with the appropriate service.

A triage nurse can assess your concerns, provide guidance, and help determine the appropriate next steps. Information from your call will also be communicated to HHC so your primary care team can follow up as appropriate and support continuity of care.

After hours. Weekends. 24/7 nursing guidance when you need it.

We’re pleased to share that the Public Health Nursing (PHN) has officially transitioned to the modular building across the parking lot from the main Health Center (with the Mind and Wellness Center). This move provides PHNs with dedicated space to better support community-based services, health education, outreach activities, and individual patient needs. The new location also provides additional space for classes and programming while allowing the PHN team to continue working closely with departments throughout HHC.

PHN services remain fully available to our patients, staff, and community. Referrals and coordination with PHNs should continue through established processes. We are excited for this transition as it supports the continued growth of nursing and public health nursing departments, providing the team with space best suited for the important work they do within HHC and throughout the community.
