I want to tell you about last Thursday.
I worked with a client that we decided to stack two appointments that day.
We did a Spinal Flow® session right away, so we could do other tasks in between sessions. Right after, her dog needed to be picked up from the
groomer, so I joined her and we got the dog. Then we decided we were hungry, so we went to lunch. 😋
Then we came back and did the second Spinal Flow® session.
That was the whole day. Simple.
—>But here's what I actually want to tell you about. The moment she walked up to the table and I heard her footsteps…. my
brain was already working.
I could hear her right foot gently scuffing the floor as she walked. Just barely.
Most people would never notice it. But my brain right away went: right pelvis is probably presenting low, left pelvis probably compensating high.
And when I got into her session and assessed her foundation gateway, that's exactly what I found.
I don't do this on purpose. I can't turn it off. My husband sees my wheels quietly turning when we are out, and even after 20 years together, he jokes “I can’t take you anywhere!” 😅
Because when I'm at the grocery store and someone walks past me, I'm already clocking their gait. When I'm at a coffee shop, I'm reading how someone is distributing weight in their chair, and how they are probably feeling.
When you walk into my space, your assessment has already begun before you've taken your shoes off.
It's not something I consciously choose. It's what yearrrrrs of training made automatic. My brain is constantly gathering data. And most people have no idea it's happening. I think 😅
That day, between the two sessions, while we were getting ready to leave - I noticed she tended to stagger her feet when she was standing still. One foot slightly behind the other, more weight on the back leg. A classic protective pattern. I mentioned it gently. Or maybe not gently, I think I said “What are you squaring up to me for!?” 🤨 The comedic relief was necessary, believe me.
I really just wanted her to be aware. Because she couldn't see it. It had probably
been invisible to her for a long time.
That's part of what you get with me: I will show you things your body has been doing without your knowledge. Not to alarm you. To free you of unconscious habits and old patterns you don’t need anymore.
We stacked two sessions that day intentionally. Close sessions can prevent the nervous system from sliding back into old holding patterns. Its a clever way to accelerate the work because the system doesn't have time to rebuild its walls.
And something interesting happened in the
second session: she went a little deeper emotionally. It was really special to witness.
The first session nourished the nervous system. The second one got real access.
By the end of the day, her pelvis was aligned, and stayed that way even when she was standing and talking. No more foot scuff. Her words: “I feel more grounded and centered than I have in awhile.” 😌
What you get with me isn't just what happens on the table. It starts the moment I lay eyes on you. It continues on the way to the groomer. It's happening in the parking lot. I am always, naturally, in the practice of *truly* seeing people. And that means you 💟
