I HAVE OFFICIALLY FINISHED PHASE 2 of the pEP process to becoming a Midwife! Baby August was my last newborn exam (and I guessed his gender correctly based on skull theory! Onto phase 3… 25 “catches” as the attending Midwife under supervision. The countdown has begun………🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

I absolutely love when clients choose to wait to find out the gender of their baby at birth. One of my favorite things to do is if they have had a 20 week ultrasound scan and have a profile pic of babies head, then I like to guess the gender based on what’s called “Skull Theory.” I’ve guessed the gender of my own children based on this theory and it worked every time or maybe I’m just really good at guessing. Lol. The fun part is that I don’t tell the parents what my guess is (based on the shape of the skull). I bring a little gift for them to open afterwards and every time they are so shocked that I’m correct.
This time, I crocheted a little blue newborn bear hat. 💙It was indeed a BOY! 💙🐻

One amazing VBAC home birthing Mama! Originally told by her doctor that her pelvis was too small to push her first baby out. And ….Now…. Basking in the after joy of beautiful birth endorphins from her VBAC! 💗

Sometimes the most important role of midwives is simply to be present, observe, trust the process, and allow birth to unfold naturally, stepping in when needed.

Not every moment of birth requires intervention. Sometimes it just requires patience, a watchful eye, and a little faith in the birthing body.

So, while mama does the beautiful work of bringing her baby earthside, I’ll be over here crocheting a tiny hat and drinking coffee.

The real question is… will I finish this tiny baby hat before baby decides to make their debut? 👶🧶

Beautiful precipitous birth of a third time mama.💗 this was her second birth after her first was a C-section. Her first home birth!!🎉 Joy was overflowing in the room!💓
