For as long as there have been hot rooms and cold water, there have been people sitting in them together. Talking, resting, being unhurried around and with each other. It's kind of the whole design.

New research is catching up to what the ritual already knew: doing this together does more for you than doing it alone.

Shared heat lowers your guard faster than small talk ever could and in a moment when a lot of people are quietly starved for exactly that, a room built for community matters even more than it used to.

Some people come for the heat. Most stay community.

The cold has always been part of this practice. It is uncomfortable on purpose and worth doing for exactly that reason.

People have always known cold does something. It's a jolt that clears your mind and sharpens the senses. It can remind you what you can handle.

We know this sounds nuts if you haven't tried it. But ask anyone who has! There's a reason people have become such believers in cold exposure.

The benefit is in choosing to get in, even when knowing it will be uncomfortable. The payoff is the extraordinary feeling of invigoration you get when you step out.

Come choose your cold: 52°F, 46°F, 38°F.

(52°F is Lake Michigan in late May...so this temperature is probably more familiar than you think)

We believe that rest is an equal part of this practice.

Between rounds, this is where you steady back to room temperature \\ no heat, no cold, just still.

The heat and the cold only do their work because they're doses, not constants. Rest is what turns a hard sensation into something your body can actually adapt to.

It's the space where the benefits of this practice begin to take hold.
