With school starting again, this artwork has been sitting with me.

Because LOOK at it.

There's a whole lot happening.

Different personalities. Different energy levels. Different needs for space and connection. Some seem completely immersed in what's happening around them; others appear happily in their own little worlds.

It's chaotic.

And somehow…it works.

It made me think about how often we expect people ... esp kids ... to enter the same environment and experience it the same way.

But we don't.

We learn differently.
Connect differently.
Communicate differently.
Regulate differently.
Need different amounts of stimulation, movement, quiet, support, independence, and space.

Different doesn't automatically mean something needs to be fixed.

Sometimes we just need environments with enough room for different kinds of humans to be human.

As another school year begins, I hope we remember that.

There is beauty in the differences.
There can be calm in the chaos.
And yes…sometimes there is plenty of chaos in the calm. 😂💛

WBH is going global - virtually! 🌍🧠

I’m excited to share that I have been accepted to attend Brain Days 2026, held September 23–24 alongside the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

My work with the Center for BrainHealth in Dallas has connected me with some extraordinary people and expanded the way I think about mental health, cognitive wellbeing and lifelong brain health. Brain Days is an opportunity to continue those conversations within an international community of researchers, clinicians, advocates and policymakers.

I am especially interested in how global brain-health work can become more culturally responsive, neurodiversity-affirming and useful in real clinical and community settings.

I’ll be attending virtually and look forward to sharing more when the programme is released.

The new Worley Behavioral Health website is officially live.

One of the unexpected lessons from building it is that simple and easy are not the same thing.

My goal wasn't to create a website with more information.

It was to create a place where prospective clients and referral partners could quickly find what they need, while also leaving room for those who like to explore a little deeper.

Some people want the highlights.

Some people want the rabbit holes.

Both are welcome.

Provider Appreciation Post 💙

As both a clinician and a patient, I pay close attention to healthcare experiences; esp when a provider is helping me navigate a very specific set of needs.

Recently, I had the opportunity to see Dr. Donna Haas and her team, and I was genuinely impressed by the level of care, attentiveness, and problem-solving they brought to the process.

I came in with what felt like a complicated wish list: reading, computer work, hiking, kayaking, running, needle work, driving at night, changing vision, sensory preferences, and a desire to spend more time living life and less time managing glasses and contacts. Dr. Haas took the time to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and help me find solutions that fit how I actually live.

As someone who is both neurodivergent and a mental health clinician, I especially appreciated the calm environment, minimal wait time, clear communication, and the way her team made the entire experience feel comfortable and manageable.

We often talk about the importance of finding providers who truly listen. This was one of those experiences.

If you're looking for a therapeutic optometrist, I wanted to share my appreciation for Dr. Haas and her team. Thank you for the excellent care.

So they build their own.

A “third culture.”

It’s not confusion.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the chance to connect with a few clinicians here in Texas who left a strong impression on me.

What stood out wasn’t just their credentials; it was how they approached the work.

They asked thoughtful questions.
They paid attention to fit.
They care about doing things well, not just quickly.

That matters.
Good care takes thought.

When I refer someone out - whether for psychiatric care or something more specialized - I’m paying close attention to who practices with that level of thoughtfulness and integrity.

I’m grateful to know clinicians like Dr. Alisha Fluker and Dr. Leah Bortnick, who bring that level of care to their work.

This is the kind of network I continue to build around Worley Behavioral Health; one grounded in trust, collaboration, and good clinical judgment.
