I pray you have at least one genuine person in your life. There is just something about them... Genuine people “walk the walk.” We know we can count on them to do what they say they will do. If they “preach” to us, we can be sure they are also acting on what they are saying.

These are the people in our life that see the joy in the everyday circumstances and have a good sense of humor about all the ups and downs. We know they are going to be there for us in good times and bad. Genuine people take time to listen and remember the details. They understand the importance of being present, actually hearing another person, responding with sincerity. These small gestures that go a long way to connecting with others, are characteristics of those genuine people. If we have even one person like this in our lives we are truly blessed.

Always leave people better than you found them. Hug the hurt. Kiss the broken. Befriend the lost. Love the lonely.

Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Foundational principles to building a quality life:

Personal integrity. Always do the right thing. When you mess up, own it and fix it. Doing what is right and honest, even when no one is watching. Taking full responsibility for actions, reactions, and the direction of your life rather than blaming others or difficult circumstances. Making peace with the past and let go of what you cannot control.

Surround yourself with the right people. People who can teach you to be better, push you to be better and expect you to be better. They celebrate your victories and maintain faith in you during self-doubt. Their motivation and positive outlook replenish your mental energy instead of draining it.

Stop negotiating things with yourself that should be non-negotiable. If you tell yourself that you are going to do something, do it. So often it is harder to follow through on the promises we make ourselves than the promises we make to others.

Gratitude in all things. Notice and appreciate the good in even hard situations. Remember that acknowledging current difficulties doesn’t mean giving up hope for the future. When we express gratitude, we acknowledge the positive aspects of our lives, which helps encourage a positive mindset.

Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does. William James

We all have the different situations, relationships, struggles, and circumstances that preoccupy our minds and worry our hearts. Maybe your struggle feels loud and impossible to overcome. Maybe time feels like it has stopped and no progress can be made. Resources and help feel out of grasp. Prayers feel unanswered.

Life may look far different than you imagined. Reflection on the past can give us perspective on the present. None of us is without struggles. We have been here before and God made a way. Recognize the progress made through past pain. The process was necessary to refine and strengthen. Worry only borrows trouble from tomorrow.

Don’t try to predict the future. Appreciate the relationships and present blessings that could only be cultivated through vulnerability and struggle. This time in life may feel desperate and in disarray but try not to be alarmed. This is the circle of life. Be present today and prepare for more blessings ahead from the struggles you are facing. Your best is enough.

Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement; nothing can be done without hope. Helen Keller

We are often so occupied with the pursuit of more that we are no longer content with what we already have. All too often we take the little things in life for granted. We are merely just aware of these elements but seldom take the time to appreciate them.

The ability to find happiness from the little things in life creates and attitude of gratitude. If we are able to center our attention on the beautiful aspects found in life, we will become a more grateful person. We become rich beyond our wildest imaginings.

Let’s pause the pursuit and reflect on the joy and happiness in all the wonderful aspects of our lives. These little things hold the magnificent power to turn gray and stressful days into better, more joy filled days.

Only by being obsessed with little things do amazing things emerge. Andy Dunn

For many people, the journey to achieve happiness is ongoing. Deep contentment and satisfaction may take a while to develop, happiness can be experienced spontaneously. Joy is all around us. Joy feels good, connects us to life’s everyday richness, and strengthens our capacity to experience true contentment. Reading this quote the other day made me pause, think and pray for more of the little things that bring us joy.

‘If you can enjoy the little things in life, your life will be that much better because life is made up of little things. The everyday stuff we never pay attention to is almost limitless. If we can start paying attention to them, we become rich beyond our wildest imaginings.’

Are you noticing the little things these days? Can you name a few that you have stopped and taken notice of? A sunset... a flower... a moment in the warm sun...Let’s share a little joy today. Comment with a pic of something that brings you joy!

And joy is everywhere; it is in the earth’s green covering of grass; in the blue serenity of the sky. Rabindranath Tagore

Lowering stress and healthy living lead to longevity. We know that eating well and being active are some big factors in a healthy life. What you may not be aware of is positivity is also a major key. Studies show that optimists are more likely to maintain better physical health.

Positive Pollyanna’s are more proactive with managing their stress. Expecting positive outcomes and being hopeful can boost our immune system and prevent disease. Grateful people are happier and are less likely to suffer from depression.

Optimism may be one of the most important predictors of physical health. Looking at the positive and hopeful anticipation of the future. Seeing and expecting the best. Looking at the bright side of life. All of these lead to a more beautiful, beneficial life! Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year. (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

Optimism is essential to achievement and it is also the foundation of courage and true progress. Nicholas M. Butler

Crazy ideas come in all shapes and sizes. History is made by people who are crazy enough to think and act bigger. The greatest inventions of our time all came from ideas that people ridiculed. Some impossible, crazy ideas gave us electricity, airplanes, cars. Just to name a few.

People who make history aren’t the ones that are necessarily realistic. They don’t stay in the safe confines of what some consider normal. Some may say your plans are unrealistic. People might say you are crazy for those big scary dreams and goals. Dream anyway.

Those thoughts and goals might scare you. If they are big enough they should be. Don’t let that stop you from your pursuit. What others think shouldn’t keep you stuck or stop you from stepping out of your comfort zone. Maybe they are right. Maybe, just maybe YOU are. Your best is enough.

If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy, and inspires your hopes. Andrew Carnegie

Its a wonderful thing to be accommodating, generous, and want to make other people happy. But sometimes the need to please and seek approval gets in the way of our own wellbeing. We can't make everyone happy. Trying to will burn us out.

Theres a price to be paid. Spending too much time taking care of others can lead to neglect of our own wants and needs. Fear of rejection may cause us to try and meet everyone elses expectations. We miss out on so much when we continually cater to others. Trying to fit into every box can dim our unique gifts. Making us just a face in the crowd.

Separating ourselves and sticking to our own plan and goals will help attract others with the same values and beliefs. Keep focusing on your path. Be passionate. Be different. Don’t lose yourself to appease anyone. Your best is enough.

I cant tell you the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone. Ed Sheeran

Have you ever felt like you weren’t allowed to complain about being tired or overwhelmed because there is always someone who is going through more? Comparative suffering is when we compare our suffering to another’s to dismiss or justify your own feelings and emotions. Your circumstances don’t have to match mine for me to understand hard things. We have all walked through tough times.

Hard things will often feel like mountains looming over us. We will pray with all our might that things would get easier. We hope the tide would turn and beg God to change our circumstances. He doesn’t always answer the way we want Him to. We want the mountains to move but sometimes we have to climb it to get through the hard times. We gain wisdom from rough patches in life. And if He is telling you to climb, it means it is going to be one incredible view. Your best is enough.

There is a tremendous strength that is growing in the world through sharing together, praying together, suffering together, and working together. Mother Teresa

Hab 3:19 The Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like those of a deer and enables me to walk on mountain heights!
