Today, CARE's Professional Caregiving Team completed seven hours of intensive training focused on the Minnesota 245D Positive Support Rule, as required by Minnesota state law. We were fortunate to have an exceptional trainer, Brittney Zeller of STAR Services. This day reinforced CARE's commitment to providing person-centered, high-quality services to the older adults and individuals we serve. We believe that you deserve positive control over your life. Our role is to support a desirable quality of life.
That's why we ask:
• What does support look like for you?
• What routines are important to you?
• What do you want maintained as you age and as you become a CARE client?
When you don't feel well, we ask you, "What does support look like for you today?" We understand that one size does not fit all. We do not believe in a "check-the-box" mindset. Instead, we focus on listening, learning, and building services around you.
When you are a CARE client, you are seen. You are heard. Your preferences matter.
Top-notch professional care, right here in Aitkin County.
Local expertise. Local people. Personalized support.
We're CARE, and we're here for you. Age Well & Age Strong with us. To schedule a home consultation, call Kim Nutting, Program Director of Professional Caregiving Services at 218-927-1383 ext. 2.

CARE is pleased to announce the appointment of TONI LANE to a three-year term on its Board of Directors.

Toni is employed as an Aitkin County Public Health Nurse, where she serves as a care coordinator for adults age 65 and older. As a member of Aitkin County's Home and Community-Based Services Team, she works closely with older adults and their families to help them access the services and supports they need to remain healthy, safe, and independent.

Toni's professional experience, knowledge of aging services, and commitment to the well-being of older adults will bring valuable insight to CARE's mission and strategic direction. We are excited to welcome Toni to the Board and look forward to her contributions as we continue working to help older adults age well and age strong in Aitkin County.

CARE is excited to announce the addition of two new professionals to our team!

Please join us in welcoming Bob, our newest full-time Transportation Director, who will provide safe, reliable, and friendly rides to help community members get to their appointments and other destinations.

We are also pleased to welcome Kari, a Registered Nurse, who will be joining our highly popular CARE Toenail Clinic. With the addition of a second Registered Nurse, CARE hopes to expand appointment availability and better meet the growing demand for this valuable service.

These additions reflect CARE's ongoing commitment to helping older adults and caregivers remain independent, healthy, and connected in their communities.

Age Well. Age Strong. Age with CARE!

The Aitkin Farm Fresh Food distribution in Hill City was a collaborative effort involving CARE, Angels of McGregor, Riverwood Healthcare, and the Aitkin Farmers Hub. Together, volunteers packed, transported, and distributed 60 bags of fresh food to community members in less than 15 minutes, demonstrating the strong partnership and commitment of local organizations working to address food insecurity. No further Aitkin Farm Fresh distributions are scheduled yet. Stay tuned.

As many of you may already know, Loaves & Fishes has announced that it will no longer provide staffing, funding, or the connection to Second Harvest Heartland (the food distributor) for the Aitkin Community Meal program. As a result, the final Loaves & Fishes-supported meal was served on Thursday, June 4. The Palisade meal location has also closed.

Moving forward, the Aitkin Community Meal will continue to offer meals on Mondays only—June 8, June 15, and June 22. There will be no meals served on Tuesdays or Thursdays during this period.
Following the June 22 meal, the program will be suspended while community partners evaluate options and seek greater clarity regarding a long-term plan for sustaining meal services in Aitkin County.

CARE is very grateful to the volunteers, partners, and supporters who have made these meal programs possible and will continue working together to explore solutions that meet the needs of our Aitkin County communities.

We are also especially pleased to welcome a male caregiver to our team, expanding the diversity and strength of our direct care staff.

In addition, we are happy to announce our second full-time Tour Director (Driver), Thor, who will be providing essential transportation for clients traveling to medical appointments and other critical destinations.
