Speaker Spotlight: Cindi Petito to Present on Home Accessibility at the 33rd Annual Virginia Miller Memorial Educational Seminar

We're excited to announce Cindi Petito, OTR/L, ATP, CAPS, CEAC, Director of VGM Live at Home, as one of the featured speakers for the 33rd Annual Virginia Miller Memorial Educational Seminar on October 22, 2026, in Akron, Ohio.

As more individuals choose to age in place and clients with mobility challenges seek greater independence at home, home accessibility has become an increasingly important part of the rehabilitation process. That's why we're pleased to offer one of our first dedicated educational sessions focused entirely on home accessibility and home modification best practices.

Drawing on more than 30 years of clinical experience, Cindi will share practical insights on home accessibility assessments, Universal Design principles, accessible entrances and exits, emergency egress planning, and solutions such as ramps, vertical platform lifts, and stairlifts.

This session will provide therapists, ATPs, and healthcare professionals with valuable tools to help clients navigate their environments more safely and independently.

We're looking forward to another outstanding day of education, collaboration, and networking with rehabilitation professionals from across the region.

We recently welcomed a group of University of Mount Union Physical Therapy students to our Canton location for an interactive learning session focused on mobility and seating solutions.

Led by Miller’s ATP, Bobby Sabo, the session provided an in-depth look at manual and power wheelchairs, complex seating systems, and the important role this equipment plays in supporting function, independence, and quality of life. Students explored key differences between mobility devices, discussed clinical decision-making strategies, and learned how proper seating and positioning can impact long-term health outcomes.

A special thank you to Bobby for sharing his expertise and helping educate the next generation of therapists. We wish these future therapists continued success in their studies and look forward to future opportunities to learn and collaborate together!

Miller’s would like to share the news that Mike Grzincic, ATP, will be retiring on July 1st after more than 33 years with our company.

Mike joined Miller’s in March of 1992 and has spent decades serving clients, therapists, and families throughout Northeast Ohio.
Over the years, he has become a highly respected Assistive Technology Practitioner (ATP) known for his experience, compassion, teamwork, and dedication to helping clients find the right mobility and adaptive equipment solutions.

While we will celebrate Mike more formally closer to his retirement date, we wanted to take this opportunity to share the news and congratulate him on this well-earned upcoming retirement.

Over the coming weeks, Mike will be working closely with fellow Miller’s team members to help transition his accounts and ensure continuity of care and service for the clients and referral partners he has supported throughout his career.

We are incredibly happy for Mike and thankful for the impact he has made at Miller’s over the last three decades. Congratulations, Mike!

There is encouraging news for individuals who rely on Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) and customized manual wheelchairs.

The Choices for Increased Mobility Act (H.R. 1703) recently passed the House Energy & Commerce Committee with unanimous support and now moves forward in the legislative process. This legislation would help improve access to lightweight titanium and carbon fiber wheelchair options for Medicare beneficiaries, supporting greater mobility, independence, and quality of life.

Lighter-weight materials can reduce wheelchair weight, improve propulsion efficiency, decrease upper-extremity strain, and help individuals achieve better day-to-day function. The legislation also seeks to simplify coding and reimbursement pathways while allowing greater flexibility in selecting mobility solutions tailored to individual needs.

Thank you to the advocacy efforts of AAHomecare and NCART for their ongoing work supporting access to mobility solutions and advancing policies that impact the CRT community.

We love seeing programs that expand accessibility and create more opportunities for everyone to enjoy the outdoors. A special shoutout to the Conservancy for CVNP and Open Trail Collective for launching a new all-terrain wheelchair lending program at Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

This self-propelled chair is designed to navigate roots, rocks, gravel, mud, and other natural surfaces, helping individuals with disabilities, injuries, and mobility challenges experience more of the beauty our parks and trails have to offer.

The self-propelled chair uses a lever-powered system and mountain bike components to roll over roots, rocks, gravel, mud, and most natural surfaces. The program expands trail access for visitors with disabilities, injuries, and mobility challenges.
