Hi there!!!
This is 2015- it is the year of 39 Adventures for me, and many of my 1975 born friends. One Adventure for me is to make BIG change. I don't mean a pebble affect- but a HUGE ripple effect in helping other families live healthy, active, have less stress and be able to enjoy time together having fun. A bit grand- sure but I KNOW it can happen!!!
Change needs to happen first.
1. When people are working so very hard to make ends meet, they can't relax 120% on the weekends since they are often working a second or third job away from home, or if like in the Bay Area, many are concerned with finances due to the increased cost of living. People play, but have that added stress that bugs at them with a night out and how much it costs. Let's change this.
2. When people commute more than 30 minutes each way, they lose time in their day to be active and fit in the "happiest years of their lives". They lose time with the ones they love- those they are working so hard for every day. According to the Atlantic, the average commuter spends 38 hours each year commuting!! A full work week, and in metro areas it is actually between 63-72 hours/year! This needs to change!
3. When people are stressed and commuting to much, the first thing that often goes to the side are life's means to keep them healthy and vibrant- also known as good nutritious food and exercise. This needs to change and have the ways to be healthy and vibrant PART of everyone's daily life.
While I may be stating the obvious, how many of you reading often refer to your athletic life in college, almost the glory days when you "had time at the gym". You may have added some extra weight the last 10 Years with the thought "When "x" happens I will take time to lose the weight and eat right". Or "After this next promotion I am going to set up my workout routine." Or on the weekends with your kids think, "I used to be able to keep up, I don't want to be the Dad/Mom on the sidelines who doesn't have energy to participate." NOW is the time to CHANGE!!!
While I know my good ol' life and the one you see in FB is photos of being active with my kids, it is because that is how I know how to love and live. I've faced medical circumstances with my oldest daughters almost losing them both, which taught me a huge life lesson at ages 32 and again at 34...THE ONLY THING in LIFE you DON'T get back is TIME!! Why waste it putting off LIFE until tomorrow?? Don't have a lesson like mine happen to you...your time to make changes is now!!
