A little behind the scenes before I share this… 🌿

I’ve been a little quiet here lately.

Life has been shifting—balancing home, motherhood, new schedules and transitions, while reassessing where I’m being called to grow next.

I’ve been practicing something I’ve written about so much through Root & Sea: being present enough to let the next direction reveal itself.

In the middle of it all, I’ve also been learning, creating, building, & making space for my own growth—including beginning a horticulture class, which feels pretty fitting. 🌱

Much of what I share here is created in very small pockets of time: late nights, early mornings, between toddler naps and the everyday responsibilities of being a boy mama & small business owner.

I’m learning as I go—design, tech, publishing, business & all the little pieces that come with building a creative wellness ecosystem from the ground up.

So this feels like a fitting moment to finally share this…

🌿 Barefoot Rituals: Earth — A Rooted Beginning

This began over a year ago as a small idea that kept evolving.

A collection of simple, often-overlooked rituals meant to shine a little light on what you may already know.

A few of you have already spent time with early digital practice copies and printed test versions through a workshop I offered in April. Since then, I’ve received such thoughtful feedback from those who kindly shared their experiences with me—and it encouraged me to keep refining the work and bring Earth into this revised hardcover First Edition.

Not another thing to become.
A space to pause. To listen. To remember.

And now, as we enter a new season, Earth has become a fully revised First Edition hardcover journal—a physical companion for your own rituals, reflections, and return to self.

There feels like something especially fitting about releasing it now.

A season changing.
The earth shifting.

A reminder that sometimes what we need isn’t something new, but a remembering of what we already know.

Keep it for yourself. Gift it to someone who could use a little grounding. Begin again, gently. 🌿

The First Edition is now available at a special founding price.

Two hardcover copies have already found their first homes, which makes this little beginning feel especially real.

If you’d like to support this little Root & Sea seed as it grows, purchasing a copy is one beautiful way to do so. 💜

And this is only the beginning.
Barefoot Rituals is an evolving elemental series.

Water is next. 🌊
It’s slowly turning, as tides do.
It will arrive when it does.

With warmth & gratitude,
Cherie Amor

🌿 Behind the Ritual 003

Honoring Lineage

One of the things I value most as a teacher is remembering that very little of what I share began with me.

Every class I teach, every ritual I offer, every journal prompt I write has been shaped by teachers, yogic teachings, nature, lived experience, books, conversations, mentors, and years of personal practice.

Root & Sea isn’t about creating something entirely new.

It’s about receiving wisdom with gratitude, living it sincerely, and offering it forward through my own authentic voice.

To me, honoring lineage isn’t about repeating teachings exactly as I received them. It’s about allowing them to take root through my own lived experience while remembering where they came from.

One of the greatest gifts my teachers have given me is the reminder that wisdom doesn’t lose its value because it’s shared.

I don’t aspire to create something entirely new.

I aspire to receive these teachings with gratitude, live them sincerely, and allow them to take on an authentic expression through my own life.

The wisdom may be ancient.

The expression is uniquely my own.

That’s the heart of Root & Sea.

The Return Ritual is a beautiful example of that.

It’s a practice I’ve shared with students long before it became a Ritual Card. Now it simply has another place to live ~ within my yoga classes, Barefoot Rituals, Ritual Cards, workshops, and, one day…retreats.

Ritual doesn’t become meaningful because it’s original.

It becomes meaningful because we return to it.

I’m still learning.

I don’t share because I’ve mastered these teachings.

I share because I’m living them.

I hope that, through Root & Sea, these practices continue to evolve ~ not by losing their roots, but by being lived with sincerity, shared with humility & offered in service.

Behind the Ritual 002 🌿

Choosing Discernment.

Behind the Ritual isn’t about revealing everything.

It’s about revealing what serves.

Within a committed relationship, the yogic principle of Brahmacharya has taken on a much deeper meaning for me.

It’s often translated simply as celibacy, but its essence reaches far beyond abstinence. At its heart, Brahmacharya invites us to be mindful of where our energy goes ~ to choose presence over impulse, intention over habit & integrity over distraction.

I’ve come to see that this practice isn’t about restriction.

It’s about reverence.

It has gently challenged me to ask deeper questions:

Am I acting from love or from longing?

Am I present, or simply seeking comfort?

Am I honoring both myself and another?

When intimacy is approached with presence, mutual respect & wholehearted attention, it becomes something more than a moment of pleasure.

It becomes an expression of trust.

Of devotion.

…sacred connection.

This reflection isn’t about having all the answers.

It’s simply one way this ancient teaching continues to unfold in my own life and practice.

Perhaps discernment isn’t about saying no.

Perhaps it’s about saying yes to what is truly worthy of our energy.

A gentle invitation to return. 🤍

A practice I often share at the beginning and end of my yoga classes…

Place one hand on your lower belly.
One hand over your heart.

Feel the warmth beneath your palms.
Reconnect with the steady beat of your own heart.

A reminder that you can return to yourself ~
on the mat,
and off the mat.

Behind the Ritual 001 🌿

A glimpse before class.

This was my little corner before teaching on July 1 ~ a first-of-the-month Isis Oracle card (my newer deck of which I’m really loving as much as my students are), a few grounding breaths, and the mat that’s been supporting my practice lately.

I recently shared some quiet news behind the scenes: I was accepted into the Jade Yoga affiliate program. It felt meaningful bc it came after already choosing products that genuinely fit how I practice and teach.

I’ve especially been enjoying a natural cork mat lately. The grip actually gets better as practice warms up, which has been a welcome bonus for my sometimes sweaty palms. I also love that it’s made with thoughtfully sourced, eco-conscious materials.

I’ll share more of what I truly use as this journey unfolds. .yoga

A glimpse behind the becoming. 🌿If you’re curious about the mat that’s been supporting my practice lately, send me a DM and I’d be happy to share my affiliate link with you. 🌿

One gentle tone.

You don’t need much - just one sound.

Let it move through the body, the breath, the space within you.

Start with one tone, and notice how it resonates.

What did you feel or notice as you listened? 💜

07/03/2026

A cancellation and a no-show for a class I was covering meant I had a little more time than expected before teaching my regular Slow Flow to Yin class.

Instead of reaching for my phone to scroll, answer emails, or fill the space…

I simply moved.

A little intuitive movement.
A little somatic practice.
A chance to reconnect with myself before holding space for others.

(Crooked camera and all. 😜)

Sometimes the pauses we didn’t plan become the ones we need most.

How do you return to yourself when life unexpectedly slows down? 💜🌱

Copal smoke rising & moving in the summer air.

A resin I return to when I want to mark a threshold ~ something ancient, grounding, and quietly protective.

Sometimes I burn palo santo or sage. And sometimes I feel intuitively drawn to copal ~ its white smoke moving through the space like a gentle clearing.

Resting on my sweet sun-warmed holder, it felt like a small & simple offering to the season itself.

Remember ~ solstice doesn’t always need ceremony.
Sometimes it’s just a bit of attention.
Just breath.
Just smoke finding its way upward. 🌞
Aliveness in our senses.

What are you marking this season?

The Casablanca lilies bloomed.

My windows are always open - so, their fragrance filled the room and drew my attention back to something sitting quietly nearby: the first printed copy of Barefoot Rituals: Earth.

An imperfect first edition of an evolving series I’ve been quietly tending since last year.

There is something tender about holding a creative vision in your hands after months of unseen work. A reminder that not everything blooms quickly. Nature’s pace & rhythm. Some things ask for patience, trust, and a willingness to keep showing up before they unfold.

A small circle of people have already received the digital version, including those who attended my first Earth Ritual gathering this spring. The encouragement and reflections I’ve received have meant more than I can express.

This journal companion has become a foundational step toward a larger vision I’ve been carrying for some time ~ bringing Barefoot Rituals to life through community, practice, and eventually retreat experiences.

And now, with Earth finding its roots, I find myself being called toward to revisiting the next element: Water. 🌊

For today, I’m simply pausing to appreciate what has already bloomed. 🌸🤍

What have you been quietly tending lately?

lately I’ve been thinking about how we move through hard seasons

how easy it is to believe
this. is. it.

to stay connected to old stories
even when something in us is asking for change
that internal tug-of-war

there was a time in my life where things felt really heavy
where I felt stuck in patterns
mine and others

in emotions I didn’t know how to move through

and slowly, in the tiniest ways
I began to return to myself

through breath
through movement

learning how to care for my body

not all at once
just one small decision at a time

and somewhere along the way
something shifted

this season feels different

the burnout I’m moving through now
isn’t collapse

it’s a pause
for integration

a slowing down
so my body, my breath, my life
can catch up with all I’ve lived

and I’m learning that
pausing doesn’t mean something is wrong

resting doesn’t mean I’m falling behind

it means I’m listening
creating space for clarity

sometimes that need for pause
is invisible to others

sometimes it’s not understood
or even met

but I’m learning to honor it anyway

to care for myself
to trust what I feel

to gently let go of what no longer sees me clearly

my mornings can look simple

walking my youngest to daycare
soft good mornings to my boys
cool air, quiet streets
the sun moving through the trees

just noticing
breathing
being here

and realizing…
this is the life I’m in now

not perfect
whatever that is

but present
and deeply my own

I go to sleep grateful
and wake up the same way 🌿

pause
integration
clarity
connection
service .yoga
