I'm not curated. I'm not linear. I don't put a lot of forethought into things...which is probably not a great quality. However this is me 🤷🏻‍♀️ Here's to not doing things to be cool, to try and appear nonchalant when I very much care about a lot of things. Learning to surf has been humbling especially having grown up and been surrounded by surf culture. The surf world is intimidating, not everyone is welcoming, it's a huge learning curve...but I love the ocean and love the experience and will keep trying cus I love it. Hope you go after whatever calls to you and never let the inner critic win.

I've realized, especially the last few years, that freedom to me is truth.
I know no other way to be than honest...raw...real. The highest form of love to me is through that honesty, which leads to real intimacy. If we don't consistently show up as our selves, in all rooms we stand in, then no one can ever truly know us- or in turn love us. I've made the mistake more times than I'd like to admit, by believing everyone values that honesty the same way I do. In this evolution of my life, I no longer have patience for people around me who only tell their truth behind closed doors...who smile and weave their own versions of honesty to some, and quietly judge and critique in private to others. I think the greatest growth for me has been the choice to continue to hold an open heart knowing it might lead to more hurt. At the end of the day I owe it to myself to love fiercely and take risks, to be vulnerable and let people in- because that's what truly living looks is.

Landing after a week in high desert country, feeling inspired and curious about creation. We as a western society focus on productivity, but the desert teaches us to flow with the seasons and know when it's time to build and when it's time to bloom. The art and the artists that thrive in these landscapes have space and time to dream...and it shows.

How do we fall in love with old places as a NEW version of ourselves?

Not exactly sure...but continuing to explore our hometown and trying to make new memories. One thing is for sure, our body remembers this place which can be both a trigger and a peace. The battle to not fall into old patterns continues as well as the gift of remembering the magic of a California fall.

Us humans are tribal beings...yet we are lulled into the story that strength and power comes from independence and self control. What I have found in my own life, is that I tend to isolate when I'm in a place of struggle or confusion- not wanting to let anyone in on my pain until I have it "figured out" which quite frankly is an excellent way to NEVER be intimately close to anyone. The bravery it takes to be fully seen, not just when you have it all together- is what gives us true connection to others and to self. It makes our community healthier and more authentic. This is mostly a reminder for me to not hide when I'm hurting- and to find those soul people you feel safe letting your walls down for.
