May is community connection month for all clinics and staff of Cumberland Family Medical. Here at Albany Family Medical, we chose to participate in something that we see every day with those who struggle with addiction. We wanted to spotlight something that is local in our community and is not a quick fix but a lifelong change. This is why we have decided to work hand in hand with Jaxon’s Legacy Sober Living House.
Jaxon’s Legacy Sober Living House was started by former employee/colleague Chasity Brown. Chasity and her husband Bobby lost their son Jaxon last year in 2025 to addiction. This tragedy led Bobby and Chasity to open the sober living home. The home provides a safe and drug-free environment to recover before living independently. Residents are supported through peer accountability, structured daily routines; they assist them with employment (Getting them to and from work) and skills learned to help them with their future. They have worked together to change the lives of the men that enter their home through Christian-based beliefs.
We were able to donate household essentials, hygiene products, groceries, gas cards, and monetary donations. Pictured are Bobby and Chasity Brown, Sandee Barnett, Carol Denney, Joni Roberts, Sierra Shelley and Sarah McMillon. Not pictured were Matthew Savage, Brittany Runyon, Chelsea Thompson, Abby Soma, Allison Spears, Taylor West, Josh Stearns and Rebecca Coffey.
