We started Brain Tumor Awareness Month on May 1st with OZZYFEST.
I flew back home on the 5th.
On the 7th, Hayden turned 20.
Ozzy would have turned 7 on May 9th.
Then Mother’s Day came on the 10th.
It has been an emotional month filled with love, memories, heartbreak, purpose, and moments that remind us God is still moving through all of this.
On May 12th, OZZYFEST / Fight Like Ozzy had the incredible honor of being invited to stand alongside Governor Andy Beshear during the official signing of both Brain Tumor Awareness Month and the proclamation making May 17th DIPG Awareness Day in Kentucky. While I was unable to attend personally, Paula Brown (Ozzy’s Grandma) and Carol Brickey (Dean of the YANCEY SCHOOL of NURSING and a true earth angel) were there representing Ozzy, our mission, and every DIPG superhero family during this meaningful moment.
Seeing these proclamations signed was emotional and powerful. DIPG is a devastating pediatric brain cancer that has affected far too many children and families, and seeing awareness continue to grow gives families hope that their children’s stories are being seen and remembered. God is truly moving all the pieces together in ways we never could have imagined.
We want to sincerely thank Governor Andy Beshear for including us and for helping shine a light on DIPG and pediatric brain cancer families across Kentucky. We also want to give a very special thank you to Rocky Adkins, Senior Advisor to Governor Beshear, for his kindness, support, and for helping make moments like this possible. Moments like this remind families that they are not fighting alone.
Thank you so much to the YANCEY SCHOOL of NURSING and Kentucky Christian University. Without your compassion, support, hard work into OZZYFEST, and heart for these families, none of this would have been possible. We are forever grateful to stand beside people who truly care and help us honor these beautiful children.
