💚💙 One Month Later, and We’re Still Feeling the Love! 💙💚

It’s hard to believe it’s already been one month since The Moving Message Fundraiser! We are filled with gratitude for everyone who made this special event such a success. 🎉

From our dedicated volunteers, generous donors, amazing vendors, and wonderful guests to our inspiring speakers and everyone who attended, THANK YOU for showing up, supporting our mission, and helping us make a difference in the lives of individuals living post-stroke, post-brain injury, and with other neurogenic communication disorders. Your generosity, time, and support mean so much to us! 💙

We’re thrilled to share that we’ve raised over $24,000 and counting! 🙌 This incredible milestone would not be possible without YOU and our amazing community.

This is honest. This is real. And we hear you.

To the aphasia community: Your feelings are valid. And you don't have to carry this alone. When we come together, everything changes. You belong here. You are understood here. 💙

To everyone else: This is a window into what your loved one is experiencing. Listen. Learn. Show up with patience and care.

Aphasia awareness is about belonging—seeing the whole person, understanding their journey, and saying: You matter. Your voice matters.
When we come together, hope grows. 💙

Small tools change everything. 💙

If aphasia makes communication harder, try these three strategies:

1️⃣ Write it down
Sometimes words flow better on paper. Keep a notepad handy.

2️⃣ Point and gesture
Your hands say what words don't. Use them.

3️⃣ Take your time
There's no rush. Pause. Think. Speak. People who care will wait.

Small adjustments. Big confidence.

Part 1 (7:00-8:00): “From Diagnosis to Daily Life: An Interprofessional Approach to Dementia”

Presenter: Dr. Rebecca Stetzer of AMCH Neurology Dept., Center for Excellence

Dr. Rebecca Stetzer is a geriatrician and clinician-educator at Albany Medical Center with expertise in cognitive impairment and dementia care. Her work focuses on person-centered, interdisciplinary care for older adults and on teaching medical learners to navigate the medical, functional, and social complexities of dementia.

Participants will:
- Learn how different types of dementia can affect thinking, function, and every day life
- Identify strategies that support brain health and may reduce the risk of dementia
- Explore the challenges people with dementia and their families may face
- Discover how health professionals across disciplines work together to support meaningful, person-centered care

8:00-8:10 - Refreshments

Part 2 (8:10-9:00): A panel of speech-language pathologist are interviewed about their work with neurogenic communication and swallowing disorders
