Founded in 1881, Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) is a private, independent college with a long tradition of academic and research excellence. In addition to Pharmacy, ACPHS offers the only Masters of Biomanufacturing and Bioprocessing degree in the state. Other programs include Biomedical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pre-Med, and Public Health. We are fortunate to have so have so many amazing preceptors! 😎

During Pharmacy Month and Pharmacy Week, we're proud to announce the 2026 Preceptor Recognition in Mentorship Excellence (PRIME) awardees: Monica Campbell ’96, RPh; Kara Candee ’19, PharmD, BCACP; and Paris Dade ’23, PharmD.

Preceptors play an integral role by helping to shape a student’s professional identity and launch their careers. There are more than 500 ACPHS preceptors supporting our experiential rotation sites, modeling professional and decision-making skills, and evaluating students in their settings.

The PRIME award recipients not only serve as professional role models, but also show leadership and service to the profession, excellent knowledge and subject matter expertise, dedication to patient care, exemplary dedication to the student learning environment and highly positive comments in student evaluations.

PharmD students Jonathan Santosh, Hector Rivera, Josue Colon, Alana Santiago Gomez and Kelly Nhan spent Sunday afternoon with School of Pharmacy Dean, Elena Umland, interacting with children at the Schenectady Jewish Community Center STEMfest 2026.

The annual event is designed to spark curiosity, creativity and learning of technology, engineering and mathematics festival in children ages 3-11. The event featured more than 20 interactive STEM activity stations, giving children a chance to explore concepts through play, experimentation, problem-solving and discovery.

Our students used an interactive board designed to help people identify candy vs. medication. They also interacted with the kids using pharmacy coloring pages, word finds, and an activity showing how much sugar is in common foods/ drinks.

Join us on Thursday, October 29, 2026, 7 to 9 pm as Dr. Rebecca Stetzer, a geriatrician at the Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease at Albany Medical Center, presents “From Diagnosis to Daily Life: An Interprofessional Approach to Dementia.”

The event will also include a panel discussion of speech-language pathologists, who will share their work with neurogenic communication and swallowing disorders.

The discussion, which is free and open to the public, will take place at the Bush Memorial, on Troy's Russell Sage College campus.

Experiential learning is an essential part of an ACPHS education. 🙌

Microbiology students, Emily Louie, Nithya Gutta, Duncan Schengrund and Izabella Vredenburg, shared the details of their summer internships at a recent micro seminar hosted by Dr. Vir Singh.

The students worked in various capacities at the NYS Department of Health’s Wadsworth Center, Regeneron and Rutgers University.
