Hello community! Our friends at the Gill Tract are doing a crowdfunding campaign and could use support :)

As much of our world is shut down and distanced, the Gill Tract Community Farm has only increased its mutual aid, increasing distribution of food and medicinal herbs to low-income folks across the East Bay. In order to continue and expand this work, we are asking for the help of our community. We are hoping to raise $61,000 to build out our health and safety infrastructure, increase our food and medicine production, and broaden our distribution network to even more vulnerable members of our community. Please consider supporting us!

The farm does this work in coalition with many organizations; most notably Black Earth Farms and the Sogorea Te Land Trust, who are already distributing food and herbal remedies through their inspiring home deliveries and other networks. Your support will go directly towards feeding more food insecure families, supporting more disabled and immuno-compromised students, and supplying produce to houseless aid organizations across the East Bay. The coalition is also embarking on a new project to create a food aggregation hub at the Gill Tract, so we can support more regional farmers in supplying their products to food insecure populations.

Gill Tract has been nurturing the seeds of mutual aid for years. Since the very beginning of our movement, we have been dedicated to uplifting and growing alongside our community for collective empowerment. We distribute 20,000 pounds of food and herbs every year, and we can do even more with your help today!

Placemakers Community! We are pleased to announce an offshoot of the TeaHouse, PlaceMaker Herbals Collective.

We have been busily crafting all kinds of beautiful medicines, harvested and prepared from the land by hand. We also have 1000+ herbal plant starts for sale -- a complete inventory can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nS8x-JEqMO0XeqHGm_ARIwr0iyY2jECh-zBUXWoSP8M/edit?usp=sharing

We are selling these products, and asking folks who are interested / able to donate a bit more than cost so that we are able to distribute some of these medicinal and other herbal products freely within the community.

Please reach out to me if you'd like more details -- we have:: WHO approved HAND SANITIZER in a variety of scents, 2 or 4 oz; an incredibly potent immune boosting syrup, a mostly wildcrafted, native cough syrup, hibiscus fire cider, a Spring Tonic lymph cleansing vinegar, handmade local lard based soap, and more!

Please check out our store @ etsy.com/shop/placemakerherbals (pics aren't great, it's a first draft, but all relevant details are listed there).

UPDATE: please get in touch with us directly for hand sanitizer or cough syrup. The Gill tract will be closed until March 23rd while there are upgrades to sanitation made.

ORIGINAL POST: In response to the Corona Virus, Placemaker Herbals Collective has ramped up production of herbal hand sanitizer and cough syrup, and will be disseminating it through a community hot spot near you! This Sunday we'll be at the Gill Tract 3-5pm, and yesterday we delivered a flat to Aidan Hill for folks at People's Park. We want to get this medicine out to *everyone* that needs it, fast, so watch for a fundraiser soon to help us cover costs!

Hand sanitizer comes in lemongrass or orange-Spearmint, and our Crown of California syrup contains Elderberry, White Sage, Asclapias, Horehound, Grindelia, California Spikenard, Western Coltsfoot, California Peony, honey, Rosehips, Rosemary, Black Sage, Yarrow, and prayers for healing.

Yesterday we sledgehammered out our Moon-in-Cancer blues, to the benefit of the hoop house project at the Gill tract! Soon the hoops will be fitted into the metal pipes we pounded into the clay, and before you know it we'll be incubating lots of little tea and medicinal herbs for The People!

We're expanding the Placemakers Teahouse work to include herbal products! A peek behind the scenes, making salves and body butters infused with Calendula, Saint John's wort, Yarrow, Plantain, and lavender! Turns out the herbs are quite funny and enjoy being read excerpts from Braiding Sweet Grass.
