Some messages arrive as words. These arrive as faces.

Christina works in a brief meditative state, using charcoal and mixed media to capture the energy of those in Spirit who want to reach you. And you watch it happen -- loose, scattered marks slowly resolving into recognizable figures, Guides, and symbols on the page in front of you.

That's the part that catches people off guard. Most readings ask you to take someone's word for what they're receiving. This one you see arrive.

When the drawing is finished, she shares the clairsentient impressions that moved through her while she worked. And then you take the illustration home. It's yours -- a physical thing you can hang on a wall, which is not something a reading usually leaves you holding.

Christina weaves her background in creative arts therapy together with her intuitive connection to the Universe, and what comes through is unlike anything else offered in our space.

Pop-up sessions at Reflective Harmony:
Tuesday, September 8, 4:30 to 7pm

September's calendar is up, and it's a full one.

Yoga most days of the week, from gentle and restorative all the way through Kundalini and the SAH Method. Sound and meditation for the weeks when your brain will not stop narrating. Reiki training if you've been circling that for a while. Creative work with Christina. Conversation-based groups for the things that are hard to say out loud.

Go look. Find the one that makes something in your chest go oh. That one's yours.

Stress doesn't stay in your head. It moves in.

It settles into your shoulders. It shortens your breath without asking. It follows you upstairs at night still reciting the list. And most of what gets recommended for it is another thing to add to the list -- another app, another habit, another practice you'll feel bad about skipping by Thursday.

This is different. Sabrina of The Sandy Rose Herbal is spending ninety minutes teaching what the plant world has been quietly offering the whole time. Hands-on, practical, and you leave knowing what to actually do with it -- not a lecture on herbalism, but tools you'll use in your own kitchen this week.

Saturday, September 5 at 10am. Ninety minutes, $55, held right here at Reflective Harmony in Albany.

Limited to 15 guests, which is deliberate. This one fills cozy and fast - preregister online! https://reflectiveharmony.as.me/naturaltools

Things that have happened in Karen's chair yoga class: silly noises, singing, a joke or two, and actual out-loud laughing in a yoga room, on purpose.

Things that also happen: strength, balance, mobility, and stress quietly leaving your body like it was never invited in the first place.

Both of those are true at once, and that's the part people don't expect.

Let's clear up what chair yoga actually is, because it gets filed in the wrong drawer constantly. Karen's class is for anyone rebuilding after an injury or an illness. Anyone managing a chronic condition. Anyone who'd like to move well without the floor being part of the negotiation. And anyone who has simply decided they'd like to feel better in their body without white-knuckling their way to it.

It is a complete practice. Not a lesser one, not a warm-up for real yoga, not something you graduate out of. The chair holds you steady while you do the actual work.

You'll leave refreshed, rejuvenated, and with a little more peace of mind than you walked in with.

Tuesdays 12 to 1pm.
Thursdays 10 to 11am.

And yes, you're allowed to laugh in here.

Your office does not need a mindfulness app.

You know how it goes. Somebody in HR books a lunch-and-learn with the best intentions in the world. Eleven people RSVP, four show up, two of them are answering email under the table, and by March it has quietly vanished from the calendar and nobody mentions it again.

That is not a people problem. That is a design problem. Most workplace wellness adds one more obligation to a day that is already too full, and hands almost nothing back.

We built the opposite of that, and then we tested it in a hard environment. Five weeks with New York State Senate staff this summer -- one session a week, same day, same time, held in the room and streamed for the folks who couldn't be there. A different practitioner and a different approach each week, because the person who would never sign up for breathwork turns out to be the person who needed sound, and you can't know that in advance.

Attendance held all the way through. Nobody made them come.

If you just read that and thought about your own building, send this to whoever books things. That's all. We'll take it from there.

Kelley's class is gentle. It is not easy. There's a difference, and about four minutes in, your nervous system will explain it to you.

Here's what happens in that room. You walk in carrying whatever you've been carrying -- the stress, the grief, the low-grade anxiety, or just the accumulated weight of an extremely ordinary Tuesday. Kelley spends the first few minutes doing one thing: helping you feel safe. Then you slow down enough to actually hear yourself again, which for most of us is the part we've been quietly avoiding.

She's had people tell her "I finally exhaled." She's had people say it was the first time they'd felt calm in weeks. She keeps teaching because of those sentences.

Her class is for beginners. For people coming back after years away. For anyone in the middle of a transition. And especially for anyone who has ever thought yoga probably isn't for someone like them -- which Kelley will tell you is usually the person who belongs there most.

You don't have to be flexible. You don't have to be calm. You just have to show up.

Mondays and Wednesdays at 11:30am -- a 45-minute lunchtime class, so you can be back at your desk after.
Wednesdays at 4:30pm -- 60 minutes.

Nobody talks about the part that actually stops people.

It isn't the money. It isn't the schedule. It's the twelve seconds between opening the door and knowing where to sit. It's the fear of walking into a space full of people who already know each other and having to be new in front of them.

We think about that a lot around here. It's why we built the front of this place the way we did, and it's why there's always a Harmony Keeper up front instead of a sign-in sheet and a hope. You will be greeted by a human being who knows you're new and is glad about it.

You don't need special clothes. You don't need to have read anything. You don't need to know what a chakra is or whether you believe in any of this. Some of the people in our rooms have been on this path for twenty years and some of them signed up on a hunch they couldn't explain to their spouse. Both are exactly right.

Save this one for the day you almost book something and then talk yourself out of it.

Introducing RH's weekly Yoga "Did You Know" series...

Saying you're not flexible enough for yoga is like saying you're too dirty to take a shower.

Flexibility is not the entry fee. It's a side effect, and a fairly minor one. What you're actually building in a yoga class is the ability to stay with your breath while something is uncomfortable -- which, if you think about it for two seconds, is a skill with applications well beyond a mat.

Every single teacher here said a version of this without being prompted. Not one of them walked in flexible.

Come as you are. The flexibility will handle itself.

Jen thought yoga was light and fluffy and absolutely not for her.

She'd done Tough Mudder. She considered herself strong, and she was right about that. It took a friend dragging her into a hundred-and-five-degree room to change her mind, and even then it wasn't the heat that got her.

It was one line, said in passing: you only do what you can do today.

That's it. That's what turned a skeptic into someone who's been practicing for twenty years and now teaches. Not a transformation, not a breakthrough -- one sentence that gave her permission she didn't know she was waiting for.

She asks a question in class sometimes, like it's nothing, and we have not stopped thinking about it since. What's wrong with focusing on yourself for sixty minutes?

Nothing. That's the answer. Nothing at all.

Restorative Yoga is the one where you get held. Bolsters, blankets, and enough support under you that your body finally stops bracing. Each session helps you release tension you've been carrying so long it stopped registering as tension.

Some days the most powerful thing you can do is slow all the way down.

Tuesdays, 5:30 to 6:30pm with Jen Menagias.

She walked in expecting a workout.

Kelley found yoga during a season when life felt heavy and she was looking for a way to breathe again. Not just physically. She thought she was signing up for exercise. She walked out present for the first time in a long while, and she never really left.

What the practice actually gave her wasn't flexibility or strength. It was learning how to listen to her body. How to sit with hard feelings instead of managing them. And how healing tends to show up the moment someone is given permission to be exactly as they are.

Teaching came out of that directly. She wanted to build the room she wishes she'd had sooner -- one where nobody has to perform, keep up, or pretend they're fine.

Her classes are gentle. They are not easy. There's a difference, and you'll feel it. The first few minutes of every class exist for one purpose: helping you feel safe enough to actually arrive. She's watched people walk in carrying grief, stress, exhaustion, or just the weight of an ordinary Tuesday, and walk out standing a little taller.

Find her here for Gentle Yoga on Mondays and Wednesdays, Grief Yoga once a month for anyone moving through a loss, and Reiki Yoga each week alongside Cristina Starke -- where the movement opens the body and the Reiki works with whatever has been sitting in it.

Her rooms are for beginners. For people coming back after years away. For anyone in the middle of something. And especially for the person who has quietly decided that yoga probably isn't for someone like her.

Those, Kelley will tell you, are usually the people who belong here most. šŸ¤
