🍂 We love fall… and fall prevention! 🍂

Fall prevention matters all day, every day. Small changes can help reduce fall risks and support independence.

A few reminders for caregivers, families, and care teams:

• Keep walking paths clear of clutter, cords, and loose rugs.
• Make sure hallways, bedrooms, and bathrooms are well lit.
• Choose well-fitting, supportive shoes with nonslip soles.
• Use canes and walkers correctly, as recommended by the person’s healthcare team.
• Keep frequently used items within easy reach.
• Tell the healthcare team about falls, dizziness, or new concerns with balance.

At PPBC, we encourage everyday support that keeps safety, dignity, and each person’s needs in mind.

A big thank you to Ultrex Business Solutions for getting us set up with our new printer here at Positive Pathways Behavior Consults!

Their team came out, handled the installation, and took the time to walk us through everything to make sure we felt comfortable using it. They were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and wonderful to work with!

As PPBC continues to grow, having reliable equipment that can grow alongside us makes such a difference. We are so grateful for the support, collaboration, and excellent service from the Ultrex team.

Here's to continued growth, great partnerships, and exciting things ahead!

Thank you, Ultrex!

We left yesterday’s Senior Wellness Fair with smiles and appreciation for our community! Positive Pathways Behavior Consults was happy to join the Mid-Willamette Family YMCA in Albany for a day of conversation, learning, and connection.

Thank you to the YMCA for welcoming us and bringing local resources together for seniors and their families. These events take time and teamwork, and we appreciate the care that went into making this one possible.

Through fitness programs, Active Older Adults activities, and community gatherings, the YMCA gives people opportunities to stay active, make friends, and feel connected. The fair offered another way to meet people, ask questions, and discover available support.

We enjoyed spending time alongside Pathway Senior Solutions, Signature Healthcare at Home, Natural Grocers, Capital Mortgage Source, Futurity First, and independent Medicare broker Becky Lippmann. Together, they shared resources covering senior living, home health and hospice, nutrition, mortgages, retirement, and insurance. We appreciate their willingness to share their knowledge and time!

For PPBC, it was an opportunity to share our passion for understanding the why behind behavior and helping families and caregivers find practical ways to communicate, approach, and connect with aging and disabled individuals. Every person brings their own history, preferences, and needs, and understanding those details helps us offer more thoughtful support.

To everyone who stopped by, thank you for the conversations, questions, and laughter. We loved being part of the day and look forward to the next Senior Wellness Fair!

Happy Myth Monday!

Being able to do something yesterday does not always mean a person can do it the same way today. Pain, fatigue, stress, health, the environment, and brain change can all affect a person’s abilities.

Behavior support helps caregivers recognize these changes and adjust their approach with patience, flexibility, and compassion.

If you or your team could use fresh ideas or an extra layer of support, PPBC is here to help. Reach out to learn more about Behavior Support Services and how we can support the great work you are already doing.

September is World Alzheimer’s Month 💜

Dementia can affect so much more than memory. Changes in communication, routines, emotions, judgment, and behavior can all be part of a person’s experience.

At Positive Pathways Behavior Consults, we believe behavior is communication. Instead of focusing only on what we see, we can pause and ask: What might this person need? What are they trying to communicate? What could help them feel safe, heard, and supported?

A little more understanding can make a meaningful difference for people living with dementia, their families, and the caregivers who support them.

Different journeys. Same value. Always human. 💜

Happy Myth Monday!

Validation is not about agreeing with every detail. It is about helping someone feel heard, respected, and supported. For a person experiencing a brain change, a calm and validating response can reduce distress and help preserve connection.

If you or your team could use fresh ideas or an extra layer of support, PPBC is here to help. Reach out anytime to learn more about Behavior Support Services and how we can support the great work you are already doing.
