Weight gain in your 40s isn’t simply about eating too much or exercising too little.

Hormonal shifts during perimenopause can affect your thyroid, stress response, blood sugar, gut health, and how your body processes estrogen. Any one of these—or a combination of them—can make it feel like your old habits suddenly stopped working.

Instead of blaming yourself, start asking better questions.

✔️ Is your blood sugar stable?
✔️ Is your thyroid functioning optimally?
✔️ Is chronic stress affecting your metabolism?
✔️ Is your gut supporting healthy hormone balance?

When you understand why your body has changed, you can work with it instead of fighting against it.

Have you noticed weight gain even though your habits haven’t changed? Let me know in the comments.

PMS is real, but feeling anxious, irritable, overwhelmed, or unlike yourself before your period is often a sign your body needs more support, not that you’re “too hormonal.”

In the week before your period, progesterone drops, estrogen shifts, and blood sugar can become less stable. If you’re already stressed, underslept, or skipping meals, those changes can feel even more intense.

The good news? You don’t have to just push through it. When we look at hormones, blood sugar, stress, sleep, and nervous system health together, we can start to understand why your body is reacting this way.

What’s your biggest pre-period symptom? Tell me in the comments.

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is one of the most common questions I get asked.

My answer is rarely a simple yes or no.

As an integrative practitioner, I don’t see HRT as something to fear or something every woman needs. I see it as one of many tools that can support women through perimenopause and menopause.

For some, it can be life-changing. For others, there may be other factors that also deserve attention—like gut health, nutrition, stress, sleep, or blood sugar balance.

The goal isn’t to be “pro-HRT” or “anti-HRT.”

The goal is to understand you.

Your symptoms. Your health history. Your values. Your goals.

Every woman deserves care that is individualized, evidence-informed, and compassionate.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. What’s the biggest question you have about HRT?

I’m getting a little tired of all the powders, potions, and wellness trends that leave us second-guessing something as natural as how to eat, sleep, and care for ourselves.

Don’t get me wrong there’s absolutely a place for targeted supplements and therapeutic nutrition when they’re needed. But for most of us, the foundation of good health is much simpler than we’ve been led to believe.

Our grandparents probably weren’t stressing over grams of protein, adding collagen to their coffee, or wondering whether they should skip breakfast. They simply ate real food, in season, and shared meals with the people they loved.

Can we get back to the basics?

Eating should be nourishing, enjoyable, and connected to the rhythms of nature, not another source of stress.

One of my favorite health habits is shopping at the farmers market. Seasonal foods naturally bring variety to your plate, support your body’s changing needs throughout the year, and make healthy eating feel inspiring instead of overwhelming.

Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do isn’t to buy another supplement—it’s to fill your basket with beautiful, seasonal food and enjoy it.

What’s one simple health habit you always make time for?

Eating well becomes a whole new challenge as we move through our 40s and 50s.
Suddenly protein matters more, fiber matters more, and your microbiome becomes one of your biggest allies for steady moods, better sleep, fewer hot flashes, balanced weight, and calmer inflammation.

I’m right there with you. Just trying to age gracefully while navigating the shifts of perimenopause and beyond: the irritability, stubborn belly fat, fatigue, brain fog, weird sleep, and those days when your hormones feel like they’re running the show.

This bowl is one of my real-life “throw it together” lunches on work-from-home days. Just leftovers + greens + quinoa + a clean protein(can of sardines)… but it hits the things that matter most for women right now.

Try aiming for 3+ colors and filling 2/3 of your plate with veggies + nutrient-dense grains or legumes.
Small, intentional meals like this add up and truly make aging feel more vibrant, steady, and supported. 🌈✨

𝗨𝗡𝗣𝗢𝗣𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗥 𝗢𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗢𝗡: It’s not about eating less. It’s about eating right.
We’ve been told for decades that the key to weight loss is “calorie restriction” and “eating less.” But the real issue isn’t how much you eat—it’s what you eat.

If you’re constantly hungry, low on energy, or dealing with cravings, it’s a sign that your body isn’t getting the nutrients it needs to function properly.

Your metabolism isn’t broken—it’s just underfed and overburdened by empty, nutrient-poor foods.
It’s time to focus on quality over quantity.

Raise a hand if you think your metabolism might need a reboot but you don’t know where to start.
In the free Wellness Mapping Call, I’ll listen to your top health complaints and help you map out what’s missing from your efforts to lose weight.

𝗨𝗡𝗣𝗢𝗣𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗥 𝗢𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗢𝗡: You don’t need more discipline. You need metabolic support.
If you’ve been white-knuckling your way through clean eating, workouts, supplements—and still feel stuck—it’s not your fault.

Willpower can’t override hormone imbalances, chronic inflammation, or mitochondrial dysfunction.
This isn’t a mindset issue. It’s a physiology issue.

You’re not lazy. You’re running on an empty tank—and no one taught you how to refuel it the right way.

Raise a hand if you think your metabolism might need a reboot but you dont know where to begin.

No eres floja. Estás funcionando con el tanque vacío—y nadie te enseñó cómo llenarlo bien.

Levanta la mano si crees que tu metabolismo necesita un reinicio pero no sabes por dónde empezar.

𝗨𝗡𝗣𝗢𝗣𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗥 𝗢𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗢𝗡: Weightlifting is great—but it’s not magic.
I keep seeing women over 40 dragging themselves to the gym, trying to “build muscle to boost metabolism”...

But here’s the kicker:
If your hormones, gut, or nervous system are out of whack, lifting weights might actually make you feel worse.

No, you’re not broken. You’re just missing key pieces of the metabolism puzzle that HIIT and protein shakes can't solve alone.

Raise a hand if you think your metabolism might need a reboot but you don’t know how.

In the free Wellness Mapping Call, I’ll hear your top complaints and help you map out what’s missing from your efforts to lose weight.
