Below is a link to the press release from September 1st from the Governor's office relating to kratom and synthetic 7-OH products and the rising dangers that they pose to the public.

State officials urge Iowans to take the following steps:
-Avoid concentrated or synthetic 7‑OH products.
-Know the signs of an opioid‑type overdose and call 911 immediately if someone is unresponsive or not breathing normally.
-Use naloxone if available. Because 7‑OH acts on opioid receptors, naloxone can rapidly reverse its effects and is safe to administer when the substance is unknown.

We also wanted to remind our community that free Narcan (naloxone) is available at our office.

Gov. Reynolds and state officials are warning Iowans about the increasing dangers posed by kratom and highly concentrated synthetic kratom‑related products.

🐾 National Dog Day: Love Them. Protect Them. Vaccinate Them.

On National Dog Day, it seems like the perfect time to share a little local dog knowledge. 🐶

We’ve had some recent dog bites in our community, and it’s an important reminder that our dogs are family—but they’re also our responsibility.

One of the most important ways we can protect our pets, our families, and our neighbors is by keeping dogs up to date on their rabies vaccination.

💉 Rabies vaccination is required by law.
🏷️ Keep your dog’s current rabies tag on their collar.
📄 Keep documentation showing your dog has received their rabies vaccination.
🐕 Talk with your veterinarian about keeping your dog’s vaccination current.

Rabies is preventable, but once symptoms develop, it is almost always fatal. Keeping pets vaccinated is one simple step that helps protect the entire community.
