💜 Patient Care Isn't Just What We Do—It's Who We Are.

At Luna Del Valle Hospice, every decision we make starts with one question: What's best for our patient?

As a locally owned and nurse-operated hospice, we don't answer to distant corporate offices or shareholders. We answer to the families we serve—right here in our community. That means more time at the bedside, more personalized attention, and care that's driven by compassion, not bureaucracy.

From managing pain and symptoms to offering emotional and spiritual support, we tailor every plan to fit the unique needs, values, and wishes of each patient. No cookie-cutter approaches. Just genuine, heartfelt care from people who truly listen.

We are honored to bring this level of dedication to families from Gallup through Albuquerque and Santa Fe, up to Las Vegas, and down to Socorro. Wherever you are, our priority is always the same: you.

Because at the end of the day, it's not about checklists or metrics. It's about dignity, comfort, and making every moment matter.

What a fantastic way to spend the day! We had so much fun soaking up the sun and flavors at The Woodmark Uptown's Taste of Spain event today.

We loved getting to mingle with our friends, enjoy the delicious tapas, and soak in that Spanish fiesta energy. A huge thank you to The Woodmark for inviting us to be a part of this beautiful celebration. We are already looking forward to the next one! 🍷

Integrity is Non-Negotiable at Luna Del Valle Hospice 💙

In the hospice industry, maintaining trust and integrity is more critical than ever. Recent reports from Hospice News highlight a troubling trend: a hospice marketer was recently sentenced for their role in a kickback fraud scheme, and Texas failed to recoup millions in overpayments from hospices that exceeded caps. These cases underscore the very real consequences of non-compliance and the importance of vigilance.

At Luna Del Valle Hospice, we take our responsibility to our patients and our community partners seriously. We want to be crystal clear: we will never offer or accept kickbacks, and we will never put our partners at risk of being accused of fraud.

Our operations are built on a foundation of strict adherence to the standards set down by the Office of Inspector General (OIG). We believe in doing what is right—always.

But here's what's at stake for our community partners if they work with a non-compliant hospice:

💸 Financial Ruin: Partners can face multi-million dollar settlements. Just last year, a hospice provider paid $9.2 million to settle kickback allegations involving medical directors who referred patients in exchange for kickbacks. These cases often trigger False Claims Act lawsuits, which carry treble damages and hefty penalties per claim.

⚖️ Criminal Exposure: This isn't just civil liability. Individuals involved in fraud schemes have been sentenced to up to 9 years in federal prison. One recent case involved marketers receiving up to $1,300 per patient, per month in kickbacks—and those marketers now face felony convictions.

🚫 Medicare Exclusion & Revocation: CMS has revoked the Medicare enrollments of 181 hospices—22.1%—that underwent enhanced oversight audits. Even more alarming, CMS can now use its "affiliates authority" to deny or revoke billing privileges for any provider that has an affiliation with a bad actor. This means if you refer to a hospice that later faces sanctions, your own Medicare enrollment could be at risk.

📋 Corporate Integrity Agreements: Settlements often come with years of intensive government oversight through Corporate Integrity Agreements (CIAs), which impose strict compliance obligations, independent monitoring, and significant administrative burdens that can cripple operations.

🔗 Reputation Damage: Your practice's reputation—built over years of dedicated care—can be destroyed simply by association with a fraudulent hospice. Patients deserve providers whose decisions are based on patient needs, not unlawful financial incentives.

Choose a partner who protects your patients and your practice.

Celebrating Independence Day with Heartfelt Gratitude

This 4th of July, we pause to honor the freedom and spirit that make our nation great. At Luna Del Valle Hospice, our mission is rooted in serving the people of New Mexico with compassion, dignity, and respect—especially in our rural and underserved communities .

Today, we are thankful for the brave men and women who have fought for our freedoms and for the families who have entrusted us to walk alongside them on their journey. As you celebrate with fireworks and family, we hope you find peace and joy in the moments that matter most.

Happy Independence Day from all of us at Luna Del Valle Hospice. 🇺🇸

🖤❤️💚 June 19, 1865 – a day when the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free. Two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Today, Juneteenth reminds us that freedom delayed is still a wound, and that dignity and compassionate care belong to everyone – especially those who have been overlooked.

At Luna Del Valle Hospice, we are locally owned and operated, and we believe that honoring a person's life means honoring their story, their culture, and their history. That includes recognizing the pain of the past and the resilience of Black families who have loved, lost, and cared for one another through generations of inequity.

As we serve our New Mexico community, we remain committed to:

Providing equitable, respectful end-of-life care for all

Listening to the unique needs of Black patients and families

Celebrating every life with the dignity it deserves

Today, we honor Juneteenth not as a footnote in history, but as a call to keep caring – for freedom, for justice, and for one another.

🌙 We are here for every family, every story, every moment that matters.
