A huge thank you to all of the American Cancer Society staff and volunteers who worked so hard to coordinate this wonderful event and make it happen! And thank you to all of our colleagues, friends, and supporters who joined us and helped support this important cause. We truly could not do it without you!
We were especially inspired by survivor guest speaker Streisand, who courageously shared her story and spoke about her battle with cancer—and how she refused to let cancer define her. She is truly beautiful, strong, and courageous. Thank you, Streisand, for sharing your story and inspiring us all!
We also want to recognize the caregivers who play such an important role in the cancer journey. While we often focus on the person battling cancer, caregivers need support and encouragement, too. Check on them. Listen to them. Support them.
Our very own Dr. Lauren McCullough also spoke about the importance of getting screened and the difference early detection can make. Now more than ever, it is important to separate fact from fiction when it comes to mammograms and breast cancer screening. Don’t let myths stand between you and potentially lifesaving care. "Never before, has the world had access to so much information, including medical information. This leads to misinformation and that matters! It matters because misinformation doesn’t just create confusion. It delays diagnosis, delays treatment, and sometimes it changes the outcome.
