Virtual Yoga classes allow you to practice from the comfort of your home when you can’t get to the studio for whatever reason. You still get the same individualized attention and support during and after your session, and when I remember to record, you also receive access to the video for your personal use when you pay for class in full. Please feel free to offer reminders, especially if you’re not attending class live, but want the recording for later use. Prakrti strives to make services accessible to everyone, and financial status should not be a hindrance. Reach out if you are committed to your practice, but need a little support with affordability! Here, you are more than the number of your social likes and comments, the amount of your income, or if you’ve put in your votes for “popularity contests” of any sorts.

If you’re in search of a safe space to start or deepen your Yoga practice, I’d love to connect with you at Prakrti AyurYoga

One of the objectives of Prakrti AyurYoga is to help others, as I practice myself, to bring more balance into all areas of life.

Through consistent practice, what’s learned on the yoga mat, eventually translates to how we live out in the real world.

Most recently, I’ve been playing with physical boundaries in regard to a connective tissue disease caused by Loeys-Dietz Syndrome. On a good day, my activity levels are high as a kite, and I can go all day seemingly productive and full of energy. However, if I fail to recognize I’m approaching the edge of exhaustion, my first tendency is to push through no matter what. Through my own practices, I’m learning how to find my edge, give myself permission to back off or quit what I’m doing, and to rest before my body decides to shut down on its own.

Yin Yang Yoga, when practiced in self-compassion and mindfulness, is a great class to explore balance between active and passive practices, and I’d love to see you at the studio on Tuesday! Be sure to save your space by using the registration link found in the pinned class calendar.

Yes, yes. I’m still here to be of service to you. When I get quiet, it’s usually because of overwhelm, insecurities, or EDS/LDS flares. As always, I’m thankful for your support, encouragement, loyalty, friendship, patience, and understanding. ❤️

Dear Mercury Retrograde,

I’m holding it together, but you’re making it difficult! Thanks for lessons you’ve given me. I’m taking notes and making changes, but goodness, I’m exhausted!

Here’s to all of us facing challenges beyond our control, changing habitual patterns of thought and behavior, and still fighting with all our might.

Hang in there, Beautiful! You’ve got this!

⚖️ Find Your Center with Dandayamana Bharmanasana

Looking to build deep core strength and clear mental clutter at the same time?

Meet Dandayamana Bharmanasana, aka Balancing Table Pose or Bird Dog.

This beginner-friendly, foundational pose looks simple, but it targets your body’s major stabilizing muscles from head to toe. Extending one arm forward while driving the opposite leg back forces your body to find a perfect cross-lateral equilibrium.

Why You Need This Pose:
• It directly targets the transverse abdominis, re**us abdominis, and obliques to build serious trunk stability.
• By engaging the erector spinae and multifidus muscles, it reinforces a neutral spine and stabilizes the pelvis.
• Cross-lateral movements challenge both brain hemispheres, sharpening your focus, memory, and spatial awareness.
• Reaching actively in opposite directions elongates the spine, improves posture, and counteracts hours of sitting.
• The intense focus required to stay balanced anchors your awareness to your breath, calming the nervous system and easing stress.

💡 Quick Alignment Tip: Keep your gaze fixed down at the mat to maintain a long, neutral neck. Pull your belly button upward toward your spine to protect your lower back and keep your hips level.

🦓 Living with EDS or LDS means navigating a world that often doesn't understand your body. Traditional one-size-fits-all wellness advice like deep passive stretching or aggressive detoxes, can actually do more harm than good when your connective tissue requires specialized care.

At Prakrti AyurYoga, we look at your health through a hypermobility-informed lens. In Ayurveda, genetic connective tissue disorders are deeply linked to Vata dosha imbalances, which govern the stability, lubrication, and structural integrity of your tissues.

Our Initial Ayurveda Consultation is a safe, validating space built specifically for your unique body.

🗺️ Choose Your Path:
• Online/Virtual: Connect from the comfort of your own home, anywhere.
• In-Studio: Join me in person for a personalized, face-to-face session.

🔬 What We Focus On
• Gentle Ayurvedic strategies to soothe Vata and support your ligaments, joints, and skin.
• Addressing the unique digestive struggles, gas, and bloating common with Ehlers-Danlos and Loeys-Dietz syndromes.
• Calming the chronic fight-or-flight response and fatigue with grounding, non-invasive lifestyle rituals.
• Shifting the focus from extreme flexibility to stable, mindful strength and proprioception.

You don't have to keep figuring out your complex symptoms alone. Let’s build a lifestyle roadmap that honors your boundaries and builds your internal resilience.

🌿 Guduchi: Ayurvedic Perspective on EDS & LDS

Living with complex connective tissue hypermobility disorders like Ehlers-Danlos or Loeys-Dietz means constantly seeking balance, stability, and systemic support. In Ayurveda, we look at the body through the lens of the Dhatus - specifically muscle, adipose/connective, and nervous tissue.

Guduchi, a revered rejuvenative, is famous for immune support, and its unique energetic profile makes it an incredible ally for deep, systemic tissue integrity.

Here is how Ayurveda views Guduchi's benefits for complex tissue and vascular needs:
• Healthy tissue depends on the digestive fire of each specific tissue layer. Guduchi helps kindle dhatu agni, supporting the body’s natural ability to process nutrients and clear metabolic waste at the cellular level where connective tissues regenerate.
• Connective tissue vulnerabilities often lead to secondary, systemic inflammation and joint discomfort. Guduchi is deeply cooling to Pitta and clearing to Kapha, yet its warm post-digestive effect keeps it from aggravating Vata, which rules the nervous system and joints.
• For conditions where vascular integrity is a primary focus, Guduchi acts as a powerful blood purifier and liver protector. It tonifies the circulatory system without over-stimulating it, promoting smooth, balanced flow.
• Dysautonomia and nervous system exhaustion frequently walk hand-in-hand with hypermobility. As an adaptogen, Guduchi nourishes nervous tissue, helping to ground an overactive sympathetic nervous system and build resilience against physical stress.
• Many powerful herbs can be heavy or difficult to digest. Guduchi is unique because it rejuvenates while simultaneously clearing toxins, making it gentle enough for sensitive constitutions.

Traditionally, Guduchi is taken alongside a balancing carrier like warm water or a nourishing ghee to guide it directly to the deeper tissues. EDS and LDS present unique systemic blueprints for every individual. Herbs should always be integrated with care.

✨ Yoga for Hypermobility: The Power of Gyan Mudra

When you live with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) or Loeys-Dietz Syndrome (LDS), traditional yoga asanas can often feel like a minefield for fragile joints and ligaments. But yoga is so much more than physical stretching. 🧘‍♂️

Gyan Mudra, aka the Gesture of Knowledge is a gentle, powerful, and stationary tool that supports your mind and nervous system safely.

Here is how this simple hand positioning offers massive therapeutic benefits for hypermobility and dysautonomia:
• Seated mudra meditation helps regulate the parasympathetic nervous system, easing systemic adrenaline surges and stabilizing unpredictable heart rates.
• Defective collagen weakens the body’s natural spatial awareness. The light, intentional connection between the fingertips gives your brain a concrete, non-stressful sensory anchor to ground your physical orientation.
• It delivers the profound neurological and stress-relief benefits of mindfulness without putting any strain on loose connective tissues, keeping your joints perfectly safe from subluxations.

How to Practice:
1. Touch the very tips of your thumb and index finger together.
2. Keep your remaining three fingers extended and relaxed.
3. Rest your hands on your knees or your lap while sitting comfortably.

🛋️ Tips to Make Your Practice Fully Comfortable:
• Ditch the hard floor. Sit on a chair or lean against a wall with a supportive pillow behind your lower back to prevent fatigue.
• If sitting cross-legged, place yoga blocks or folded blankets under both knees to completely unload the weight from your hips and sacroiliac joints.
• Avoid pressing your thumb and finger too hard. A micro-touch is all it takes. If holding your fingers straight causes your finger joints to hyperextend, let them naturally curve or rest your hands palms-up on a soft pillow in your lap.

Take a few minutes today to sit, breathe, and find stability from the inside out. 🤍

🐪 Modified Camel Pose (Ustrasana)

Spending too much time at a desk or hunched over a screen? Let’s open things up!

You don’t need to be flexible to get the benefits of this heart-opening posture. By keeping your hands on your lower back, you can safely explore a deep stretch without any strain.

✨ Benefits of Modifying:
• Stretches the chest, abdomen, and tight hip flexors from prolonged sitting
• Builds support and mobility for better everyday posture
• Stimulates the nervous system and clears away mental fog
• Gently lengthens and decompresses the lower lumbar region
• Opens the chest area, inviting a sense of calm and emotional balance.

What about people who have loose connective tissues and highly flexible joints? Deep backbends can cause us to unsafely sink into our joints rather than using muscle. By keeping hands firmly on the lower back, we eliminate the danger of overstretching.

✨ Why Modification Matters in EDS/LDS:
• Keeps movement within a safe, controllable mid-range of motion to protect fragile connective tissues
• Forces the muscles surrounding the spine and trunk to engage, creating a protective splint for hypermobile vertebrae
• Improves overall balance and coordination
• Gently stretches the chest and hip flexors without putting vulnerable joints at risk

Come exactly as you are! I will guide you through modifications that feel best for your body today! 🧘‍♀️
