National PACE Association NPA works to advance the efforts of Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®) so older individuals can continue living in their community.

Among the more than 100 PACE programs nationwide is Community Care. “If I wasn’t here and didn’t have the family support I do, I would be in a nursing home,” says participant Ann K, who has quadriplegia due to multiple sclerosis. The PACE program and her husband's support have enabled her to enjoy the best of health care, to live at home, to take on important roles in her community, and to spend time with people she enjoys. “We have ready access to doctors and nurses,” says Ann, who serves on the Community Care Board of Directors. “It is all-encompassing, excellent care. With Community Care, life is the very best it can be.”

Please join us in congratulating Social Worker, Omosede Edokpayi, on receiving the Marie-Louise Ansak Award from the National PACE Association!

When a participant was facing an unsafe living situation due to a severe bed bug infestation, Omosede helped coordinate the necessary services, assisted with removing furniture and preparing clothing for cleaning, arranged extermination and even purchased a new mattress for the participant.

Then, as the participant prepared to leave for a hotel, Omosede realized they had no other shoes. Without hesitation, she took off her own shoes and gave them to the participant so they could leave safely. She never told anyone what she had done.

When leadership offered to reimburse her for the mattress, Omosede declined, simply saying, “I have received my blessings and am passing them forward.”

That kindness carries into her everyday work. Whether she’s advocating for a participant, helping meet an immediate need or dancing alongside seniors during a musical performance, Omosede finds ways to help people feel valued, supported and included.

Thank you Omosede for embodying our Hope PACE values of seeing the whole person, recognizing their worth and treating every participant with the dignity they deserve.

During the NPA Annual Conference today, Fran O'Reilly, vice president of Advocacy at NPA, continued to spread the message that NPA needs help in building congressional support for the PACE Access Improvement Act, which will help expand access to PACE. Among the attendees she talked with about the bipartisan legislation was Louis Capponi, MD, center medical director at InnovAge Colorado PACE. More House co-sponsors are needed to move the bill forward. Congressional offices are making decisions now, and hearing from constituents can help them get to yes.
