National PACE Association

National PACE Association NPA works to advance the efforts of Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®) so older individuals can continue living in their community.

Among the more than 100 PACE programs nationwide is Community Care. “If I wasn’t here and didn’t have the family support I do, I would be in a nursing home,” says participant Ann K, who has quadriplegia due to multiple sclerosis. The PACE program and her husband's support have enabled her to enjoy the best of health care, to live at home, to take on important roles in her community, and to spend t

ime with people she enjoys. “We have ready access to doctors and nurses,” says Ann, who serves on the Community Care Board of Directors. “It is all-encompassing, excellent care. With Community Care, life is the very best it can be.”

Dolly Parton spent her life taking care of others — her fans, her community, everyone lucky enough to cross her path. It only feels right that in her passing, we talk about taking care of her.

Dolly shared that after caring for her husband Carl through his illness, she "let a lot of things go" when it came to her own health. It was a small, honest admission from someone who rarely let us see her struggle. And it's one that resonated deeply with caregivers everywhere, because so many of us have lived it.

Our President & CEO, Jason Resendez, reflected on this with CNN:

"The data shows this is happening in millions of homes across America. Caregivers' health is worn down by the labor of care. Even with her privilege, Dolly is not an exception."

Our Caregiving in the U.S. 2025 report shows just how common this is — nearly two-thirds of caregivers report emotional stress, 45% report physical strain, and only 15% say a healthcare provider has ever asked what THEY need. CNN drew on these findings to help explain why Dolly's experience reflects something so many families are quietly going through.

To every caregiver reading this: thank you for everything you give. Please don't forget that you deserve care too.

Thank you to CNN and journalist Elissa Strauss for this thoughtful piece, and rest in peace, Dolly. Read more: 🔗 https://www.cnn.com/2026/08/27/health/dolly-parton-husband-caregiving-wellness

September is National PACE Month!

PACE, or the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, was built on the idea that comprehensive, coordinated senior care can happen without moving someone out of the home they love. Today, over 200 PACE programs serve seniors in communities across the country.
All month, we’re celebrating what PACE makes possible: the participants and families who chose PACE by IIH across Fresno, Bakersfield, and Orange County, and the dedicated teams who show up to share our care every day.

If you’ve been curious about PACE, this is your month to learn more.
