Blue Ridge Care officially celebrated the opening of its Hope Campus with a community ribbon-cutting ceremony held in partnership with the Top of Virginia Regional Chamber. "Forty-five years of providing compassionate care and services to our region, now with the expanding campus and expanded services, we're going to be able to reach more of our families, friends and loved ones," said Mayor Les Veach. Kennedy, Jr., visited InnovAge, in Thornton, CO, for a tour and roundtable discussion. “We were honored to host HHS and provide an opportunity to see the PACE model in action,” said CEO Patrick Blair. From May 2025 to May 2026, home care prices increased by almost 8 percent – almost double the rate of overall inflation (4.2 percent) and significantly higher than major categories such as food and housing. The AARP Public Policy Institute analyzed new inflation data specific to long-term care services, comparing price growth in home care to other services and discussing the implications of rising home care prices for older adults and their families.

Home care costs are rising at an alarming rate that is far outpacing inflation. This is raising costs for older adults and family caregivers and making it increasingly difficult for older adults to age at home.

Nearly a quarter of North Carolina residents will be 65 or over by 2060. Most people want to remain in their home as they age. Among the programs that can help them achieve that goal are Carolina SeniorCare - New Bern, NC, which serves Chatham and Orange counties and a portion of Durham County, and VOANS Senior CommUnity Care of North Carolina PACE, which serves Durham and Wake counties.

There are some programs and resources that can help keep people in their homes with support, instead of needing an assisted living facility.
