COVID-19 Antibody Testing

Antibody tests check your blood by looking for antibodies, which may tell you if you had a past infection with the virus that causes COVID-19. Antibodies are proteins that help fight off infections and can provide protection against getting that disease again (immunity). Antibodies are disease specific. For example, measles antibodies will protect you from getting measles if you are exposed to it again, but they won't protect you from getting mumps if you are exposed to mumps.

Except in instances in which viral testing is delayed, antibody tests should not be used to diagnose a current COVID-19 infection. An antibody test may not show if you have a current COVID-19 infection because it can take 13 weeks after infection for your body to make antibodies. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test. Viral tests identify the virus in samples from your respiratory system, such as a swab from the inside of your nose.

To our patients,

We hope you are staying safe during these unprecedented times. We wanted to send some quick updates pertaining to our office and your safety. In order to keep the community as safe as possible, we are offering VIRTUAL VISITS with TELEMEDICINE appointments instead of in-office visits to ALL our current patients. Telemedicine appointments can include prescription refills, lab results, follow-up visits, etc.

To schedule a virtual visit please call our office.

To all patients with concerns that they may have developed symptoms of COVID-19 first, fill out our COVID-19 Screening Questionnaire or call and our friendly staff will assist you. We have a separate waiting area for suspected COVID-19 patients as a precautionary measure to keep all our patients safe.

Sometimes an allergy can be difficult to detect. You might be suffering from mild symptoms, like a stuffy nose. Other times an allergy is really obvious, with rashes, hives, or even more severe symptoms. If you suspect that you have an allergy, it's best to receive testing right away. The sooner you detect an allergy, the sooner you can determine what related allergens you could be allergic to. For example, a patient with an allergy to tomatoes could also be allergic to other foods in the nightshade family, such as potatoes.

What to Expect during your DOT Physical Exam at Medical Access Urgent Care

1. Walk-In or schedule an appointment at any of our three locations, seven days a week
2. Sign-in and hand your drivers' license to the receptionist
3. Fill-out the Occupational Health Registration Form
4. Fill-out Section 1, the medical history portion of the Medical Examination Report, form MCSA-5875
5. Our Medical Assistants will check your
6. Pulse rate and rhythm, height and weight
7. Blood pressure, vision, and hearing
8. Urinalysis to check for protein, blood, and sugar
9. NIDA-5 Panel drug screen with MRO to test for
1. Ma*****na
2. Co***ne
3. Amphetamines
4. Phencyclidine (P*P) and
5. Opioids
10. Our Certified Medical Examiners will complete your physical examination
11. Certified drivers will receive a copy of the Medical Examiner's Certificate, form MCSA-5876 or DOT card.
