Clothing and accessories are my bread and butter, but I make a whole lot of other things too. Toys, tools, cosmetics, gadgets for the home, I've even done furniture, shoes, books, props, backdrops, costumes and sets for theater. For the past several years I had been making and stockpiling all kinds of items, not knowing why, but still unable to stop myself. So it came down to a decision: find a tw
elve-step group for the compulsively creative, or...well, I didn't know what the alternative was until a friend suggested Etsy. I could sell what I make and share my artwork with the world. My shop consists or two major categories: art that you wear and art that you use. I put my name on the clothing because for me creating art for people to wear is a very personal matter. Beautiful Things encompass all the other items that I make for the purpose of giving my customers a way to include inspiring but practical art into their daily lives. My art process is organic, almost impulsive. More often than not the materials I use are speaking to me of what they want to become as opposed to me deciding to make something and then finding a material to make it, though that occasionally happens too. I rely heavily on recycling and reclaiming goods or materials to use in my craft. I absolutely hate seeing anything go to waste! I lay awake at night thinking of what bits in my home may someday end up in a landfill. This motivates me to develop and maintain Eco-friendly production habits as much as possible. For me beauty necessarily involves balance, and balance necessarily involves care for one's surroundings, even in a global sense. When people visit my shop, I hope that they find clothing and items that ignite their spirit, stoke their imagination and remind of something good about themselves or their lives. And most of all I hope my customers find something beautiful in my shop that connects with something beautiful inside them in way that really brings that beauty out to the world.
