What if supporting your child’s brain health starts with the building blocks of nutrition?

I recently joined Dr. Laura Hanson on Connect My Child’s Brain for an important conversation about amino acids, nutrition, and building a healthier brain for your child.

We talked about how amino acids support neurotransmitters and how foundational nutrition, including protein, healthy fats, minerals, and a healthy microbiome, may influence:

• Behavior
• Sleep
• Emotional regulation
• Brain function
• Overall development

As a Functional Nutritional Therapist, I’m passionate about helping families understand that nutrition is an important part of the bigger picture for mental and neurological health.

I also share some of my own healing journey and why I’m so passionate about giving moms practical tools, hope, and support.

From chronic fatigue to feeling like Spider-Man!

After years of stress and unknown mold toxicity, my neurological system was in disarray. I was sleeping all day and needing 4-hour naps.

But after drinking a cup a day for a week, the seventh day changed everything:

Brain fog is gone!
Chronic fatigue is gone!
I can get up and do tasks!

It completely healed my system and brought me back to life!

People pleasing isn't always just a habit; it can be a survival response.

The fawn response is a trauma-informed concept where overgiving, overfunctioning, and avoiding conflict become ways to create a sense of safety.

Recognizing these patterns is the first step toward building healthier boundaries and relationships.

Self-gratitude isn't selfish; it's how we build resilience.

When you acknowledge your growth, your strengths, and the challenges you've overcome, you strengthen your ability to trust yourself through whatever comes next.

Life will always have obstacles, but self-trust reminds you that you're capable of facing them.

Healing isn't just about overcoming what's broken; it's about rediscovering what's already strong within you.

Recovery begins when we recognize our strengths, practice self-gratitude, and rebuild from a place of resilience instead of focusing only on what's wrong.

Sometimes reclaiming yourself starts with appreciating who you already are.

Empathy is a strength, but even strengths need boundaries.

Supporting others doesn't mean carrying their burdens. When empathy turns into overgiving or people-pleasing, it can leave you emotionally exhausted.

The goal isn't to care less. It's to care with healthy boundaries so you can support others without losing yourself.

Never underestimate the power of a hug.

Healing isn't always about the latest treatment or technology. Sometimes, what a child needs most is the comfort of a parent's touch. Physical affection can help regulate the nervous system, reduce stress, and create a sense of safety during recovery.

Whether they're little kids or teenagers who say, "Don't touch me," your presence, love, and support can be more powerful than you realize.

What if inflammation isn't the enemy?

When you get injured, your body's natural response is to increase circulation and bring healing nutrients to the affected area. While icing has long been the go-to treatment, it may also reduce blood flow and slow the delivery of the very cells your body needs to repair itself.

In many cases, gentle movement, weight-bearing (when appropriate), and heat can help support the body's natural healing process. Recovery isn't always about stopping inflammation; it's about helping your body heal the way it was designed to.
