💥 Smashed Your Finger? Don't Ignore the Blood Under Your Nail!🚨 Think that painful black nail is "just a bruise"? 🤕 It could be a subungual hematoma, and in some cases, quick treatment can relieve severe pain and help prevent complications.

A subungual hematoma happens when blood collects underneath your fingernail or toenail after an injury, such as slamming a finger in a door, dropping something heavy on your foot, or a sports accident. While many heal on their own, some injuries require prompt medical evaluation.

👨‍⚕️ Common symptoms include:
🩸 Dark red, purple, or black discoloration under the nail
😖 Throbbing or severe pressure-like pain
🤚 Tenderness after an injury
💅 Sometimes the nail becomes loose or eventually falls off

❌ Common misconception:
Many people think they should drill a hole in the nail at home. Don't! DIY methods can increase the risk of infection or cause additional injury.

⚠️ When should you seek medical care?
✅ Severe or worsening pain
✅ Blood covering a large portion of the nail
✅ Deep cuts around the nail
✅ Nail lifted off the nail bed
✅ Finger or toe looks crooked or you cannot move it normally
