As July approaches, I could not be more excited to officially pass the NAHN-MI presidency to my dear friend, Dr. Kim Holka.

Kim brings dedication, heart, vision, and a deep commitment to nursing, leadership, and community. We are in very capable hands with Kim helping guide our way, and I truly believe NAHN-MI will soar to new heights under her leadership.

Leadership transitions are never endings. They are evolutions. While Kim steps into the president role, you can absolutely count on me to remain right by her side as her loyal sidekick, cheerleader, collaborator, and supporter.

Serving as president of NAHN-MI has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life, and I am incredibly proud of what we have built together as a chapter. The future is bright, and I cannot wait to see what comes next for our organization. 💙💚💛

NAHN family, I encourage all members to join the Candidate Town Hall on May 14 at 8:00 PM. This is a great opportunity to hear directly from the candidates, ask questions, and learn more before voting opens June 5–12.

I will be in attendance and hope that others take advantage of this opportunity and engage in shaping the future of NAHN.

NAHN-MI showing up strong in the community đź’™

This weekend, our NAHN-MI nurses volunteered at the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta in Southwest Detroit, serving as “First Aiders” during an exciting Lucha Libre event.

This is also what NAHN-MI stands for: representation, service, and commitment to the health and well-being of the communities we serve.

Proud of this team for stepping up, staying ready, and giving back in such a meaningful way.

Happy Nurses Week to our incredible NAHN-MI community đź’™

This week is a chance to recognize the impact Nurses make every day across our communities. Whether you’re at the bedside, in the classroom, in leadership, or out in the community, your work matters and it shows.

If you’re planning to take advantage of Nurses Week perks, here are a few that are actually worth your time:

👟 **Shoes (high-value discounts)**
• HOKA – healthcare discount (~15%)
• Brooks – up to ~25% off
• Nike / Adidas – 10–30% off
👉 If you’re going to invest in anything, make it your shoes. Your body will thank you.

đź‘• **Scrubs & workwear**
• FIGS – ~15–20% off
• Jaanuu – ~25% off
• Uniform Advantage – up to 50% off
👉 Good time to refresh what you wear every day.

Michigan-area freebies (varies by location, bring your badge!):
• Dunkin' – free coffee at select locations
• Krispy Kreme – free donut + coffee (some stores)
• Chick-fil-A – free meal or item (franchise dependent)
• Starbucks – occasional local giveaways
• Panera Bread – app-based or in-store promos

⚠️ Quick tip: food freebies are inconsistent by location. Call ahead or check your local store’s social page so you don’t waste a trip.

Most importantly, take a moment this week to acknowledge your own work and to support one another. Our strength as a community is not just in what we do individually, but how we lift each other up.

We are proud to stand with you.
