☀️ Senior Summer Safety Tips ☀️
Summer heat can be especially dangerous for seniors, even during everyday activities. As we head into warmer temperatures, here are a few important ways older adults can stay safe and healthy this summer. ❤️
✔️ Drink plenty of water — even if you don’t feel thirsty
✔️ Avoid being outside during the hottest parts of the day
✔️ Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing
✔️ Keep homes cool with fans or air conditioning
✔️ Watch for signs of dehydration like dizziness, confusion, fatigue, or headaches
✔️ Be cautious with outdoor activities and take frequent breaks
✔️ Never leave seniors alone in a hot car — even briefly
✔️ Check medications, as some can increase sensitivity to heat or sun exposure
✔️ Use sunscreen and wear hats when outdoors
✔️ Stay socially connected — extreme heat can increase isolation for seniors staying indoors alone
Did you know? Seniors are at a much higher risk for heat-related illness because the body becomes less effective at regulating temperature as we age.
A quick phone call, wellness check, or visit during extreme heat can make a bigger difference than you realize. 💕
Stay safe, stay cool, and check on the seniors you love this summer. ☀️
