Kindergarten isn’t just about knowing your ABCs. 🎒
The kids who feel most ready in September aren’t always the ones who practiced letters all summer — they’re the ones who know how to handle a big feeling, make a new friend, and recover when things don’t go their way.
That’s exactly what our Kindergarten Readiness SEL Skills Camp is built for.
📅 Tuesdays | July & August | 45 minutes
👥 Small group | Therapist-facilitated | Play-based
We’re giving rising kindergartners the social and emotional tools to walk through that classroom door feeling confident, connected, and ready. 💛
Spots are limited — DM us or comment "KINDER" for more info!

Ever wonder what actually happens in EMDR therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based treatment that helps the brain process stuck or traumatic memories — so they stop hijacking your present.
Here’s the simple version: when something overwhelming happens, the memory can get “frozen” in the nervous system, still carrying all the original emotion, body sensations, and beliefs. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (think side-to-side eye movements, tapping, or tones) to help the brain do what it actually wants to do — process, integrate, and heal.
At A Work of Heart, we use EMDR to support clients navigating birth trauma, traumatic loss, NICU experiences, PTSD, and the kind of fear and grief that doesn’t just go away on its own. It’s not about talking through the story over and over — it’s about helping your nervous system finally move through it.
You don’t have to keep carrying it. There’s a way through.

That thing you’re doing to help your child feel better? It might be keeping them stuck.
Accommodation — reassuring, avoiding, rearranging — is a natural response to a child in distress. And it makes sense. You love them. You want the discomfort to stop.
But anxiety lies. And every time we help a child escape it, we confirm that the fear was worth escaping.
The good news: there’s a way through that doesn’t require you to be cold or withholding. It requires co-regulation, gradual exposure, and a little bit of tolerating discomfort together.
That’s what we're here to help with. 👇 Follow for more on childhood anxiety, OCD, and perinatal mental health (and how trauma can collide with ocd)

We are so grateful to support countless children and families in our offices, and honored by the trust that parents place in us as we continue to serve our communities.

If you've had a positive experience with one of our clinicians, we ask that you please consider nominating your child's therapist for the 2026 NJ Favorite Kids' Docs. It takes less than 2 minutes, but means the world to our team and helps spread the word so other families can access care and support.

You can find our child and adolescent therapists in our post and link in bio and below ⬇️

Sisters are doing it for themselves — and they deserve real answers. 💪✨
A massive thank you to Jari Becker, RPh .hormone.gal and for showing up for women in our community and bringing the knowledge on perimenopause and menopause! Hormones, compounding, options, answers — no fluff, just facts. That’s the energy we’re here for. Especially since many women are in postpartum AND perimenopause at the same time (and have no idea! 🧠 ❤️‍🩹🫠)

At A Work of Heart, we know the physical and the emotional are always in conversation with each other. From postpartum to perimenopause to menopause and everything in between — we see you, we’ve got you, and we’re building something for you.
And we’re just getting started. 🔥
Are you a provider, specialist, or educator who serves women? Come talk in our space. Host a workshop. Bring your expertise to a community of women who are ready, curious, and done settling for less than they deserve.
Our doors — and our mics — are open. 📣

We talk a lot about supporting new moms. 🤍
But talking about it and actually doing it are two very different things.
Real support for maternal mental health isn’t about managing symptoms until they become bearable. It’s about getting to what’s actually driving them — the root, the source, the thing underneath.
Because when a bleed won’t stop, you don’t just keep changing the bandage. You find out why it’s bleeding.
That’s what evidence-based perinatal care looks like. Not hacks. Not “have you tried drinking more water?” Not white-knuckling through the newborn phase and calling it resilience.
It looks like real clinical support. Actual assessment. Treatment that meets moms where they are — and goes with them to where they need to be.
New moms deserve systems that take them seriously. Providers who are trained. Care that’s built around what the research actually says works.
When we change how we support mothers, we change outcomes — for them, for their babies, for their families.
This is the work. 🤍

Today is World Maternal Mental Health Day — and the numbers are sobering.
1 in 5 mothers will experience a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder. 23% of maternal deaths in the U.S. are linked to mental health conditions. And most women still never get help — not because support doesn’t exist, but because stigma gets there first.
Here’s what WE can do about it — no clinical degree required:
🌸 Ask the real question. Not “how’s the baby?” — “How are YOU, really?” And then actually wait for the answer.
🌸 Normalize the struggle out loud. Share your story. Talk about the hard parts of pregnancy and postpartum in real life, not just on awareness days. Silence is where stigma lives.
🌸 Stop rewarding the performance of “fine.” When moms feel pressure to seem happy and grateful, they hide symptoms. Celebrate honesty. Make it safe to not be okay.
🌸 Know the signs. PMADs don’t always look like crying — they can look like rage, numbness, intrusive thoughts, or just feeling nothing. The more we know, the faster we can help someone get care.
🌸 Advocate loudly. Support policies that fund perinatal mental health screening, paid leave, and accessible care. Vote for it. Talk about it. Demand it.
Mothers are dying from something treatable and preventable. Awareness is the first step — but action is what changes outcomes.
💙 If you or someone you love is struggling, help is available 24/7 via the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline: call or text 1-833-943-5746.
