Another fun update from Jill and tips for athletic recovery:
Cayuga Trails 50k in Ithaca last weekend was some of the most beautiful east coast trail imaginable. I love feeling my best and getting out there and grateful for all of the support along the way from Kelley at each aid station! This one was a little tougher with close to 7000 feet of elevation gain, but I ran the second half faster than the first and felt great through the finish. Now I’m in hardcore recovery mode with all of the peptides, nutrition, supplements, infusions, sauna, etc for another fun challenge coming up soon!
Here is a summary of recovery tips:
1. Eat all of the food. Protein, whole food carbs, healthy fats.
2. Move! I hike/walk the next day and gently run the second day. Get all of the good healing blood flow and break up lactic acid.
3. Sauna for blood flow, healing, and maintenance of blood volume during the recovery phase.
4. Hydrate. Oral, electrolytes (I like Redmond Relyte), IV athletic mixes- all help a ton.
5. Anti-Inflammatory healing peptides. Amazing.
6. Compression and massage. I love my compression boots as well as my sessions with Susan Bianchi at The Restoration Space.
I’ll keep you posted with more to come!
