Lip Filler Aftercare – Quick FAQ
Q: How long will swelling last?
A: Swelling is normal and usually peaks within 24–48 hours, then gradually improves over 3–5 days. Mild swelling can last up to a week.
Q: Can I ice my lips?
A: Yes. Apply a cold compress gently for 10–15 minutes at a time during the first 1-2 hours to reduce swelling and discomfort.
Q: What should I avoid after treatment?
A: Avoid alcohol, strenuous exercise, excessive heat (saunas, hot showers), and touching or massaging the lips for at least 24 hours unless instructed otherwise.
Q: Can I wear lipstick or makeup?
A: It’s best to wait at least 24 hours before applying lip products to reduce the risk of irritation or infection.
Q: Is bruising normal?
A: Yes, minor bruising can occur and usually resolves within a few days. Arnica or bromelain may help reduce bruising.
Q: When can I expect final results?
A: Once swelling subsides, results are typically visible within 1–2 weeks.
Q: What if I notice lumps or unevenness?
A: Small lumps can be normal early on. If they persist beyond 1–2 weeks or worsen, contact your provider.
Q: When should I call my provider?
A: Reach out immediately if you experience severe pain, significant asymmetry or skin discoloration (white or dark patches).
Q: How can I make my results last longer?
A: Stay hydrated, avoid smoking (all pursing), direct pressure, biting your lips and follow your provider’s recommendations. Maintenance treatments are usually needed every 12-24 months.

When I’m treating lips that were previously overfilled or poorly done, my approach is all about balance, safety, and restoring natural beauty.

I start by carefully assessing the anatomy, existing filler placement, and any migration or asymmetry. Sometimes the best first step is dissolving old product to create a clean, even foundation. From there, I take a conservative approach—rebuilding shape, defining the borders, and restoring proportion rather than just adding volume.

My goal is always creating lips that complement your features—not overpower them. Correction takes precision, patience, and an artistic eye!

Full post treatment instruction are given after lip filler but here are the basics;

🧊 Regular icing or heat as recommended by your provider on and off for 24-48 hours.
🛌 Sleeping with your head elevated on two pillows to help decrease swelling.
💊 Tylenol for discomfort.
🍃 Arnica gel or products that contain arnica for bruising, pain and swelling. My personal favorite is InHance serum by Alastin. Helps relieve swelling and bruising faster than any other product I’ve used. I’m hooked.

Sometimes it’s about starting over. ✨
This beautiful client came to me with asymmetry and uneven lips from previous filler. Instead of stacking product on top, I chose to dissolve and rebuild.
Correction plan:
• Dissolved misplaced filler
• Restored natural lip anatomy
• Rebalanced upper-to-lower ratio
• Refined borders without over-projecting
The result?
Symmetry. Structure. Soft volume. Balance.
Lip correction requires knowing when to subtract before you add.
