Contrary to popular belief, all sharpeners were NOT created equally. We all have our own signatures in our craft. To be an elite sharpener, one must possess two assets:
1) A high quality machine and waterstone. My weapons of choice being the Hira-To flat hone and a Naniwa resin bonded diamond stone, directly from Japan. (Fancy, right?)
2) A talented skill set. Sharpening is an art AND a skill. Thi
nk of it like you think of cutting, coloring & styling hair. Most of you are likely naturals while some of you have to work very hard at it. While both are effective, the naturals have the clear advantage. With a sharp eye and my EXTREME attention to detail, I happen to be a natural also. Additionally, I'm a multi-factory trained and certified sharpener on Beauty, Grooming & Industrial shears as well as repair & restoration on damaged & vintage/antique scissors. I received training from many of the top sharpeners in the US & around the world. "USE IT OR LOSE IT!" We all know this saying and sharpening is no exception. Even when I am not in salons restoring edges to factory sharp condition, I am sharpening at our shop and even at home refining my techniques on shears I sharpen every day and experimenting on creating razor sharp edges on the blades of unconventional style shears, as well as testing various sharpening hone discs, stones & polishing pastes. I do all of this so that when I have your shears in my hands, you can be certain that you have chosen the absolute best person for the job. I love doing what I do and look forward to seeing each one of you again soon or for the 1st time. Should anyone ever have any questions, don't hesitate to write me here, call, text or email me!
