A 28 year old man reportedly suffered a stroke after cracking his neck, drawing attention to a rare but medically recognized risk. While neck cracking is common and usually does not cause serious harm, experts say forceful twisting or sudden movements of the neck can, in uncommon cases, injure an artery that supplies blood to the brain.

One possible complication is a cervical artery dissection. This happens when a small tear develops in the wall of an artery, allowing blood to collect inside the vessel wall. The injury can reduce blood flow or lead to the formation of a clot. If that clot travels to the brain, it can trigger an ischemic stroke. Although this condition is uncommon, it is one of the known causes of stroke in younger adults.

Doctors emphasize that most people who crack their neck will never experience this complication. However, severe neck pain, dizziness, vision changes, difficulty speaking, facial drooping, numbness, or weakness after a sudden neck movement should never be ignored. These symptoms require immediate emergency medical attention because early treatment greatly improves the chances of recovery.

This case is an important reminder that even rare health risks deserve awareness. Listening to your body and seeking prompt medical care when unusual symptoms appear can make a life saving difference.

Ultra-processed foods may be stealing more than your health. They may be stealing your focus.
A recent study found that the more ultra-processed foods people ate, the worse they tended to perform on attention-related brain tasks — even when their overall diet quality was considered. That means the issue may not be only “too much sugar” or “not enough vegetables.”

Power is still not on in the office but we are hopeful we can open tomorrow. Tamy will go in and call patients tonight if the power does come back on but we advise you call before heading in just in case the power is still out.
