On International Overdose Awareness Day, we're reminded that addressing the impact of opioids requires action across every part of healthcare.

For surgical teams, that includes considering how pain is managed before patients ever leave the facility.

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Harold Hunt began exploring opioid-sparing approaches during the height of the opioid epidemic. In this video, he shares how that experience changed his approach to postoperative pain management and the role ON-Q ® and ambIT® have played in his practice.

There are also new opportunities to expand access to non-opioid pain management. The ON-Q Pain Relief System and the ambIT Electronic Infusion Pump are both eligible for separate payment under the NOPAIN Act for Medicare patients.
