When most people hear “anesthesia,” they picture an operating room.

But the work of a CRNA reaches much further.

From preparing patients for procedures and developing anesthesia plans to monitoring patients throughout care, responding to emergencies and supporting safe recovery, nurse anesthesiology requires clinical expertise, critical thinking and constant vigilance.

And across Florida, CRNAs serve patients in a huge variety of settings and communities.
Where has your CRNA career taken you? 👇

Professional growth happens in the classroom, among peers, and under pressure in the OR.

Four separate Student Sessions at the FANA 2026 Annual Meeting bring different parts of that growth into focus.

The Hidden Curriculum of Nurse Anesthesia Education with Matthew Martin, CRNA, NorthStar Anesthesia, and Mandy Spitzer, DNP, CRNA, addresses the unwritten rules and expectations students encounter.

Those same speakers return for a separate session, Emerging Smoothly, focused on the leadership habits that shape long-term success in anesthesia practice.

Marley Cain, RRNA, and Chelsea Patterson, RRNA, bring peer mentorship into the conversation with Peer Mentorship: Surviving the First Year of Anesthesia School.

Later, Lindsey Bell, DNP, CRNA, AGACNP-BC, FNP-BC, APRN, and Marley Cain, RRNA, turn to confidence and professionalism in the OR during Clinical Growth Under Pressure.

Together, these distinct sessions move from understanding unwritten expectations and finding support to developing leadership habits and building clinical confidence.

Both student-led and faculty-mentored projects are welcome.

If you've been planning to submit, use today to review the requirements, finalize your abstract, and get it in before the deadline.

The path toward nurse anesthesiology involves more than one big decision. Admission, the student experience, and financial preparation each bring their own questions.

At the FANA 2026 Annual Meeting, three separate Student Sessions bring those parts of the journey into focus:

🎓 Journey to CRNA School with Marley Cain, RRNA; Rebecca Fleetwood, RRNA; and Taylor Blyseth, RRNA looks at qualifications and strategies for admission.

🤝 Refreshments With Residents with Marley Cain, RRNA creates space for peer mentorship and the resident perspective for RNs considering CRNA school.

💰 Financing the Future with April Grasty, DNAP, CRNA, CNE focuses on student loans and financial preparation.
