One word: osteoporosis.
Approximately 80% of people affected by osteoporosis are women. Due to dropping estrogen levels as we age, especially post-menopause, women begin to lose bone density.
Enter resistance training. Through a process called mechanical loading, we increase the stress on the bones when lifting, causing the bones to adapt and grow. This can increase bone density.
Not only that, but do you want to struggle to get off the floor, out of a chair, or even your car?
You don’t have to lift for big biceps or glutes, but you should lift to protect 60 year old you. 🦊🩷
