Subject: Disaster Assistance Information
Good morning,
Like many of you, I woke up on the Fourth of July to flooding in my basement after torrential rainfalls that occurred over the past week. As a majority of MGMC staff reside in the four impacted counties, I wanted to send out some disaster assistance information.
The State of Iowa has declared a disaster proclamation for four counties in Iowa affected by flooding:
Story
Polk
Jasper
Osceola
This declaration opens up several resources for affected citizens. Most notably, the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program makes available $7,000 in reimbursable activities to qualifying households.
Additional federal resources may become available in a future date if the dollar threshold is met. Ensure that you have reported your property damage to your county Emergency Management Agency (linked above) to facilitate this application process. I am available to answer any questions about the recovery process if you were impacted by the flooding and can help you find the appropriate resources.
With kind regards,
