When you hear the term "high-risk pregnancy," it may sound alarming, but it often means you and your baby could benefit from a little extra monitoring and specialized care.

Dr. Kimberly Sullivan, maternal-fetal medicine specialist with North Mississippi Health Services, explains that factors like being over age 35, high blood pressure, diabetes or other chronic conditions can place a pregnancy in the high-risk category, even when those conditions are well controlled. The good news? Expert care is available close to home.

Patients in communities like Amory, Columbus, Starkville, West Point and Louisville can access specialized maternal-fetal medicine services without traveling to Tupelo.

Watch to learn what "high risk" really means and how expert support can help you achieve the healthiest possible pregnancy. 💕

For David Tubb of Amory, severe vertigo made everyday moments—sleeping, turning over in bed and walking safely—feel difficult and uncertain. “These symptoms significantly affected my daily life,” David said.

After just two treatment sessions with the NMMC Gilmore-Amory Outpatient Rehabilitation team, David experienced remarkable relief. “My condition improved dramatically,” he said. “I am now able to move and function normally again, sleep comfortably, roll over in bed without dizziness and walk without feeling unsteady.”

David also appreciated the care he received along the way. “Everyone was kind, supportive and genuinely invested in my recovery,” he said. Today, he’s back to his daily activities and says therapy has helped him “get back to living my life with confidence.”

Your heart health is about more than a single appointment.

While a cardiologist focuses on your heart, a primary care provider helps manage your overall health, from preventive care and screenings to chronic conditions and everyday wellness.

As cardiologist Dr. Barry Bertolet explains, the best care happens when specialists and primary care providers work together. Strong communication between your care team helps ensure you're getting the right care at the right time and supports better health for the long run.

Whether you're managing a heart condition or simply staying on top of your health, having a trusted primary care provider is an important first step.

Feeling better doesn't always mean you're fully healed.

One of the most common mistakes Dr. Hoat Hoang sees after surgery is patients trying to jump back into their normal routine too quickly.

Whether it's returning to work, lifting heavy objects, mowing the yard or chasing after the kids, doing too much too early can slow recovery and lead to setbacks.

Healing isn't a race. Trust the timeline your surgeon gives you and give yourself permission to recover.

Watch Dr. Hoang explain why patience is one of the most important parts of healing.

Colon cancer doesn’t always come with warning signs. In fact, early-stage colon cancer may have no symptoms at all. That’s why screening matters.

Dr. Stephen Amann, gastroenterologist, explains that screening helps find and remove precancerous polyps before they become something more serious. If you’re 45 or older, it’s time to take that next step for your health.

Schedule your colon cancer screening today. Early detection can make all the difference.

West Point Primary Care welcomes Dr. Ethan Tillotson.

Dr. Tillotson is a native of Mooreville. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi and his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He completed his family medicine residency at North Mississippi Medical Center’s Family Medicine Residency Center in Tupelo.

Dr. Tillotson chose family medicine because of the opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients while making a positive impact on the health of the communities he serves.

“I wanted to pursue a career that allowed me to truly have an impact on the lives of people in my community,” Dr. Tillotson said. “I enjoy the challenge and complexity of managing each individual patient’s health and building relationships with them along the way. This continuity allows me to care for the whole person, not just a single condition, and support patients through all stages of life.”
