3am. Baby finally asleep. And there you are, 47 tabs deep, comparing iron forms like your life depends on it.
Nobody warns you about this part of postpartum. Not the fatigue, everybody warns you about that. The part where you become your own researcher because the 6-week checkup lasted 10 minutes and "everything looks normal" didn't match how you actually feel.
So you spiral. Ferritin vs. hemoglobin. Methylfolate vs. folic acid. Fish oil vs. algae DHA. Every brand saying they're the one. Every influencer with a different stack. And by 4am you've bought something you're not even sure about, just to feel like you did something.
Here's what we'd tell you if we were sitting next to you at 3am:
Ask your provider about ferritin specifically. Standard panels don't always catch low stores.
Ask about your vitamin D. Especially if sunlight hasn't been part of your life since the baby came.
Ask whether your omega-3 is actually DHA. "Fish oil" on a label doesn't tell you enough.
You're not overthinking this. You're the only one doing it. That's the difference.
Close the tabs. Open the conversation with your provider. Then come back to the research with better questions.
Save this for the next mom in your group chat who texts you at midnight asking what iron to buy.
