Today we gather in remembrance, grief and unity. We stand to honor the lives of indigenous people. Our mother‘s daughter‘s, son‘s, father‘s, brothers, sister’s and loved ones. Who have been taken through violence, whose names are often forgotten, and whose stories are left untold. Many families never receive justice. Today we speak their names, we remember their lives, we stand with our families and we commit ourselves to action. We commit to raise awareness. We commit to demand that there are systems in place to protect native lives, honor tribal sovereignty, and deliver justice. Let this vigil not only be a moment of remembrance but a call to action. We will not forget. We will not be silent. We will stand together. We stand under the lives of indigenous people. We stand for our people, communities and future generations.
