After receiving midwifery care during her third pregnancy, RN Elizabeth Carney was inspired to become a certified nurse midwife (CNM) so other women could receive the same exceptional care as she did throughout her pregnancy. Today, Elizabeth is a second-year student in the UAB School of Nursing MSN Nurse-Midwifery Pathway and a recipient of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama Medical School Scholarship.

During National Midwifery Week, we’re thankful for CNMs and future CNMs like Elizabeth who go above and beyond for their patients and their families every day!
