Back then, Ryker was hooked up to IVs for 18 hours every single day.

That bag you see attached to him is called a Farrell bag. It was connected to his ostomy to continuously drain the fluid coming out of his intestines. Ryker’s output was so incredibly high that his little body needed a way to constantly drain it.

That meant this bag went EVERYWHERE with him. Day and night, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for YEARS.

While most kids were running around without a care in the world, Ryker was learning how to live, play, sleep, and simply be a kid while constantly connected to medical equipment.

It was just another part of his everyday life. A life that was anything but ordinary, but the only life he had ever known. ❤️

Fun fact:

Both of Ryker’s thumbs were folded inside his other fingers when born. For the first 6 months, he wore braces on his hands (4hrs on, 4hrs off).

11 years later, Ryker still continues physical therapy.

The only way Ryker is alive…

HomePN has come a long way 🛣️

Then: HomePN was new, and the message to patients was often, “If you’re receiving PN, you can’t eat. - That is why it was called TPN - Total Parenteral Nutrition!
Now: “If you can eat, you should, even a little.”

Then: Life with HomePN often meant staying near home base
Now: People receiving HomePN travel, raise families, and chase big goals, with care teams who help make PN fit their lives

Then: Care could feel one-size-fits-all
Now: Formulas, monitoring, and education are tailored to each person

What hasn’t changed? The people receiving HomePN are still the ones who show us what’s possible 💪

This , we’re grateful to everyone who has helped care get here: patients, caregivers, and clinicians. 🩷

Please send big prayers to Brycen as he under goes another surgery. He had one yesterday, currently in one today and has another tomorrow.

This poor kid, his life was flipped upside down and has never been the same since. His mama tirelessly has been fighting since the day everything changed.

Please keep our friend Amelia in your thoughts and prayers as she goes into another brain surgery today. Wrap her parents, the surgeons and her precious body in prayers.
