This is SO NOT ME. Here's why.
One year ago, the photo was taken that inspired this caricature.
My legs were stacked in firelog pose—hips open, spine tall, smile steady. At the time, it felt natural, strong, and familiar.
Today?
My body has a very different opinion.
Same woman, same heart... different nervous system, tissues, and needs.
And here’s the part that matters most: Nothing is wrong.
These are topics we talk about at my wellness retreats for women.
Bodies change. They’re meant to. What gets tricky is when we keep asking them to do what they used to do, instead of listening to what they’re asking for now.
It’s not just yoga poses. It’s how long we:
💻 sit at the computer.
🛋️ curl into the sofa.
🚙 grip the steering wheel.
😝 cross our legs, hold our breath, push through “just a little further.”
(The body keeps a quiet record.)
And when we slow down enough to notice, something softens. Something shifts. Something wiser takes the lead.
These days, I'm not doing firelog pose. Not because I can’t…
but because my body says, “Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.”
That’s not giving up. That’s growing up.
So here’s your gentle reminder:
You don’t have to move, sit, and live like you used to.
You’re allowed to adjust. Evolve. Listen.
Your body isn’t betraying you. It’s guiding you and keeping you safe. Remember to give it some grace.
xox,
Julie
