A piece of Anniston history has returned home.

The Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama is honored to receive a beautiful pew from the original First Presbyterian Church of Anniston on Quintard Avenue, dating back to 1896. When the church was moved to Henry Road (which is now CFNEA's home), many pieces like this were lost.

This meaningful gift was donated by Lark Howell, the daughter of Mary Nelle Turner Dill, whose life was deeply rooted in faith, service, and her community. This pew serves as a beautiful reminder of the generations who gathered here for worship and the enduring legacy of community within these walls.

We thank Lark and her family for preserving this piece of history and allowing it to remain part of a place that continues to serve our community in a new way.

On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of celebrating our Summit Grant recipients!

Recipients had the opportunity to present how their grant funding will support their work, while also using this gathering to connect, collaborate, and build relationships across our nonprofit community.

We are excited to see their work continue to grow and strengthen communities across our region!

Sometimes a change of scenery is just what you need.

Our CFO, Deb Pfledderer, needed a place to get some work done between meetings in Etowah County, so our community partner, the Challenger Learning Center of Northeast Alabama kindly welcomed her into their space.

Pretty out-of-this-world place to work, if you ask us! 💫🚀

Grateful for partners who make impact and collaboration across our region feel truly stellar!

✨2026 CFNEA Scholarship Reception✨

On May 14th, the Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama hosted the 2026 CFNEA Scholarship Reception, celebrating outstanding students and the generous donors who make these opportunities possible.

This year, CFNEA awarded 76 scholarships, including 41 new scholarships and 35 renewal scholarships, totaling more than $383,000 awarded to 38 deserving students across our region.

A special highlight of the evening was the first-ever awarding of the Eagles Soar Scholarship. We would also like to thank CFNEA Scholarship Ambassador Dillon Cook for delivering an inspirational speech to his fellow scholars, encouraging students as they prepare for the next chapter of their journeys.

The Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama is deeply grateful to every donor whose generosity continues to create life-changing opportunities for our local students. Congratulations again to all of our 2026 scholarship recipients!
