🦋 Honoring Dolly Parton: A Pioneer in Philanthropy 🦋

Dolly started the Dollywood Foundation in 1988 to help kids in her home county succeed in school and stay on track to graduate. In the early 1990s, her Buddy Program promised $500 to every 7th- and 8th-grader who graduated, helping to cut the dropout rate from 35% to 6% for those grades and inspiring the community to keep the progress going.

📚In 1995, the Foundation launched Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Sevier County, Tennessee, to send free monthly books to children under 5 and encourage a love of reading. What began as a local effort has grown into an international program and remains the Foundation’s signature initiative.

In 2025, Imagination Library celebrated its 30-Year Anniversary! The first book order in 1995 totaled just over 1,700 books. Today, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library sends more than three million books per month to children around the world, inspiring them to Dream More, Learn More, Care More, and Be More.

🕊 Dolly’s generosity and lifelong commitment to helping others will continue to inspire so many people. Every time we give back to our communities, we carry forward her spirit of kindness, hope, and care for our neighbors.

📖When thinking of donating in honor of Dolly, remember our local libraries.
