I think it’s safe to say that many of us have those challenging nights when we just can’t turn off our brain and sleep. A bedtime routine helps, but doesn’t always work, like two nights ago for me. Paddleboarding on a LAKE or in the POOL, both offer TREMENDOUS full body benefits! This RIDDLE & PADDLE article mentions the many different muscle groups and area’s in the body that BENEFIT from a PADDLEBOARD workout.
But there’s a difference! In the POOL you’re doing EXERCISES & POSES on the Paddleboard while on the LAKE you’re actually moving the board through water. Just like a tightrope walker, the “paddle” actually HELPS stabilize your balance on the lake…you don’t have that in the pool. And the paddleboard “moving” through the lake might be a bit easier than the “stationary” paddleboard in a pool. Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying one is harder or easier than the other, I’m simply saying LAKE Paddleboarding is DIFFERENT from POOL Paddleboarding…BOTH are beneficial.
But, since I’m offering a POOL PADDLEBOARD workout (Tuesdays in April 5pm-6pm - Persimmon POOL….limited to 6) let me give you a peak at what a POOL PADDLEBOARD WORKOUT might look like.
First and foremost ALL FITNESS levels are welcome!
We transition from easiest to hardest, so you simply DO WHAT YOU CAN DO!
We’ll start seated, then lying down on your back & sides, then up on your hand’s and knee’s, next up on just your knee’s, finally finishing standing. There will be a series of exercises & poses at each level…again DO WHAT YOU CAN DO!
Benefits include CORE strength, BALANCE, FULL BODY strength & more!
Might I say, THIS is my NEW FAV WORKOUT!!!

def. tendinopathy – Tendinopathy is a broad term for persistent tendon injuries, often caused by overuse, that result in pain, swelling, and reduced function. It encompasses both acute tendonitis (inflammation) and tendinosis (collagen degeneration).

What they don’t mention is that tendinopathy can be DUE TO MENOPAUSE. Right?! Another “blessing” we get to deal with from menopause. Recently, I’ve been experiencing a “pain in the butt”, literally. On occasion my elbows ache, my knee’s ache, my hands ache & feet ache, etc. Well, FOR ME I’m pretty sure it’s TENDINOPATHY from MENOPAUSE. UGH. To better understand what I’m talking about, check out this article from Hospital For Special Surgery, as they explain Gluteal Tendinopathy (my buttocks pain). It’s been almost 3 years since I went to be my Mom’s Caregiver, and over 1 year since Mom earned her angel wings and I’ve been back home in Anthem.
One of my decisions THEN is still important today…focusing on TAKING CARE OF ME, which means eating well, exercising for me and my physical needs, but most importantly teaching myself how to REST. Rest is a funny thing though, in order to be good at it, you have to work hard to learn how to do it.
