We get asked a lot: What is SPRAVATO® and how is it different from ketamine? So, let’s talk about it!

SPRAVATO® (esketamine) is an FDA-approved nasal spray for adults with treatment-resistant depression, and it’s related to ketamine, but not the same thing. Ketamine contains both parts of the ketamine molecule and can be given IV, IM, or sublingually. SPRAVATO® contains esketamine, just one part of that molecule, and is only administered as a nasal spray in certified treatment centers under a required monitoring program.

Both work on the brain’s glutamate system, but they’re regulated differently, and each may fit different needs. At Center for New Growth, we offer both so we can help you figure out which approach fits your goals, clinical needs, and insurance coverage.

Hanna Nielsen, MA, is launching a 10-step, 10-week climate support group starting September 29th, meeting Tuesday evenings from 6:30–8:30pm at Center for New Growth in Arcata. 🙏

Hanna, who holds an MA in Ecopsychology and is an eco-chaplain and Good Grief Network Flow Facilitator, will lead the cohort alongside Jane Moran, Registered Associate MFT. Cost is $350–$550 on a sliding scale, and a limited number of spots are available for Partnership Health Plan, Carelon, and Medi-Cal patients! No two rooms at Center for New Growth feel exactly the same, and that’s intentional. Each space has its own rhythm, character, and energy. One might feel bright and open, another warm and grounding, another quiet and reflective.

We’ve thoughtfully created each room to offer something different, because comfort, connection, and the way we settle in don’t look the same for everyone. Together these spaces reflect what we believe about healing: there’s no single way to grow, and no single room has to feel like the right fit for every person. 🙏

Meet Hanna Nielsen, our Psychedelic Integration Coach 🌿

Hanna holds a Master’s in Ecopsychology from Naropa University and is a trained Eco-Chaplain and Good Grief Network FLOW Facilitator. Her work is rooted in mindfulness, Buddhist wisdom traditions, and a deep respect for the healing power of the natural world. She brings a calm, grounded presence to every session; helping people slow down, reconnect to their own inner wisdom, and feel fully supported through seasons of grief, transition, and change, including integration after psychedelic experiences.

Come late September, Hanna will also be co-facilitating a climate grief group alongside Jane Moran, AMFT - more details on that coming soon! 🙏

What do you feel when you walk into one of our rooms?

You’ll notice that every space at CNG has its own personality… soft light, different textures, its own kind of quiet. This one’s our coaching room. It’s where Spravato sessions happen, integration coaching, and a lot of conversations in between. 🙏

We really love the uniqueness that each of them bring, and the goal has always been that we hope our patients are able to show up a little more comfortable and relaxed for whatever they are coming in for. We’re excited to announce that TMS Therapy is coming to Center for New Growth this September! 🌱 TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared treatment that uses gentle magnetic pulses to support the brain networks involved in mood, anxiety, and emotional regulation - no anesthesia, no sedation, and you can drive yourself home after each session.

TMS is FDA-cleared for treatment-resistant depression, major depressive disorder, OCD, and adolescent depression. It’s also increasingly used, off-label, to support people navigating generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), PTSD, and certain chronic pain conditions. We’re covered by Medicare and Medi-Cal/Carelon, and we’re preparing to welcome our first patients starting September 1st.
