Breastfeeding has been such a journey for me. It has taught me patience, knowledge, and is proof of the ultimate bond with another human. Breastfeeding is so special to me for so many reasons. I truly miss nursing J, but was so happy that he chose on his own as to when to stop. I got to spend 15 months nursing J, which included 4 months of me being pregnant with Shasta. I have nursed doing anything you could possibly imagine. Exclusively breastfeeding is a one of a kind commit to yourself and your baby. I with both of my babies I have based my entire life and schedule off of feed times.
I’m so glad I chose breastfeeding to be part of my journey. With J I donated almost 1000oz of breastmilk to a few people in need, and to one of my best friends. Sharing something you have personally created is one of the best feelings in the world. With Shasta’s milk I probably won’t get to make it to 1000oz as I give two cups of breastmilk to J a day, but with my little bit of leftovers I plan to donate again.
I have also helped so many people I’ve known and even some people I barely knew on tips and tricks I learned along my journey, and shared insight with many who are struggling just like I was with J. I’m always here for anyone who is looking to chat or need some advice on what the next step for them might be.
With Shasta I’m having a way easier experience, which is a nice change of pace. Needless to say, I love breastfeeding.
